Portfolio management site(s)

Hey Everyone,

I am 100% newbie! well not 100% I've been doing research and reading and reading and reading and watching videos for about 3 weeks. And although I consider myself pretty internet savvy - obtained my first Yahoo email address the day they went public in 1995 - believe it or not this is my very very first post in a forum ever!

Is there some type of online domain management system that allows a user to keep track of his portfolio all in one place, and most importantly list a domain for sale on multiple platforms/sites all at once - instead of having to do it individually ie. GoDaddy, Flippa, Afternic, Sedo? Does Efty do this or some other site? Always trying to save time

@FGarr the Domain Check Wordpress plugin does not let you list things for sale on any platform and is less full featured than many standalone services, but it is a free plugin and it can help with the very basics of managing a portfolio of domains. It is for use on Wordpress websites.

Thanks you guys! Maven, can a user list their domains for sale in the marketplace on multiple platforms through Epik? that's what I'm looking for. does this capability exist anywhere?

We just launched a portfolio platform for free....
Most other products require you to update each name at the domain level. We let you update all info like a spreadsheet. unlimited names for free. if you want api data like alexa rank and backlinks and valuation that requires a pay plan

as far an we know no site allows you to list your domains on all market places. They all would require direct apis. Flippa doesnt really have a public api, namejet is very restrictive, godaddy may have one, afternic is godaddy and sedo does not. godaddy charges an auction fee to be part of the acution...and namejet has an approval process. you send them a list of names and they approve disapprove and they have even told us to adjust prices lower or they wont list. at the end of the day if your talking marketplace there are only 2 Godaddy/afternic and sedo....flippa and namejet are more auction based. If everyone played nice and offered an api it could be done.

took a deeper look at epik...it appears they also have alexa and traffic and expiration per domain however you need to transfer all your domains to them in order to view that data. Our platform is agnostic of any registrar.

why do you think you need a portfolio management site?


you can manage your names in excel or notepad or keep at one registrar

you can also create your own site with simple html pages

it ain't rocket science and you don't have to pay anybody but yourself.

@biggie agreed excel is great if you have a few names.
what became an issue for us and domainers we spoke to was when you started buying many names from auctions. auction names have auction locks for a certain time which prevents you from pushing it to your account.
And if your buying 50 or 100 names a month its really hard to remember which registrar the auction house pushed the name to and which are in auction lock.

A portfolio manager will dynamically update your whois and show you info like
-where its parked (name servers)
-if you have the correct whois email transfered with each name
-what register its currently at
-when it expires

while you can add all this to excel the issue is excel isnt dynamic. all the whois data and ranking data like alexa needs to be updated as often as it changes. If you have over a thousand names you will need to update hundreds of records each month.

Or you can load all the names into a manager sit back and let the system automatically pull in this data as it updates....and for those excel fans your tool should have an export to excel feature if you ever want to go away.

You also cant easily see the traffic to each name. Again yes you can make a Google anaytics account for each name or toss code on each name but really you just need basic stats like visits, referral and country.

As for hosting html pages again yes its possible to make an html page for each of your 1200 names but why not just load them in a system and have them hosted and created instantly? Our tool does all this.

and some things you think up to say, that need to be managed, don't even need managing.

@biggie it sounds like you have your routine in place with spread sheets and we respect that.

But for many domainers....things like back links and alexa matter....after all any domain valuation tool takes these metrics into account. Our tool gives you this data so you can make an informed purchase or so you have real time data.

As for whois....most domainers are constantly changing their name servers and have accounts with multiple registrars and having this data at their fingertips saves them a lot of time

unireg shows expiration dates and registrar for every name you have listed and they pay ppc too

and domains by themselves, aren't going to generate any new backlinks nor should alexa rank, (which doesn't mean sqat anyway) increase.

also, who's going to link to a domain with no website and how will a domain with no website achieve alexa ranking?

as for valuation tools, they are worth less than a penny/per 100.

Epik lets you add domains from any registrar to your account and shows these metrics for them: registrar, creation date, expiration date, nameservers, Estibot appraisal value, Alexa rank, pagerank, and Epik marketplace status. DNS services are free for external names too.
