Porn.com sold for $9 Million

Poker.com sold for $23 Million

They are both amazing names with huge revenue as a result of the type-in traffic they receive. I'm sure both will be worth prices paid, the question is how long it will take to pay for itself.

While I'm sure the traffic is much more valuable with poker.com, I agree that porn.com is a better deal. Poker has basically risen from nothingness to greatness in the last 5 years or so. It would really suck if that were to backfire after all that money has been put into it. Porn.com is just a safe bet. People always look for porn -- but 5 years from now, perhaps something else will be all the rage on the gambling scene...

Poker has been popular for hundreds of years.

Social technology has just helped boost it's profile and opportunities in recent years.

Social technology is still improving.

It won't go away in a rush.

from my info:

poker.com was making about $300,000/month

while

porn.com was making under $100,000/month

so poker.com is a better buy...but i still like porn.com better than poker.com

from what I remember back in the traffic auction when porn.com was up for sale, it was averaging around $5,000 a day which is around $150K/ month.

That equates to $1.8 million/year

From what I remember, the site was also just full of ads and not affiliates. A little monetizing and you can double that figure or more; not to mention development potential.

Even so, that works out to only 5 years revenue! And for a name that can be sold for even more than 9 million in the not so distant future?

I say thats an absolute bargain

Both are no brainers, provided that you have pockets deep enough.

Porn is not going to go anywhere, neither is Poker, they are both going to retain their popularity and in the right hands can dramatically increase profitability. It should be doable to recoup the investment within a reasonable short amount of time.

Hi,

Poker.com would be the only way to go.

Sooner or later there is too big of a chance that ALL adult material will br restricted to something like .xxx

And this price would be a "tad" to much without any guarantees of the future. If you were 100% sure there would be no restrictions for the next 10 - 20 years, then this selling price would be very cheap.

Just a thought...

On Another Note:

BTW ANUNT,

Did you forget about this thread you started? And/Or did you not see my post(s)?

I would rather have porn.com as it reaches imho a wider audience.

I make a post to this thread...and all of a sudden "Anunt" disappears.

Another big surprise!

xxx has been rejected 3 times now...I don't believe it will get passed. ICANN is just holding their money.

$2-4K per day Porn.com is making, but $5k is pretty close.

About 6 years Rev... That's a long time. Who know's what can happen from now until then.

Yes, maybe so 6 years is a long time, but i know people who buy traffic names on a regular basis for more than 6 years revenue. And the value of porn.com as a domain name itself is unlikely to go down in the next 6 years. I say a bargain to if its getting $2-4k rev a day at the moment.
