A UDRP has been filed on the grandfather of adult generic domain names, Porn.com with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

The company filing the complaint, MXN Limited bought the domain name back in 2007 for more than $9.5 Million dollars.

The domain name Porn.com was registered at Moniker.com for a many years until just a week ago or so when it was transferred to the Regional Network Information Center, JSC dba RU-CENTER (.RU) under privacy.

We have not been able to confirm the nature of the UDRP and that its to recover a stolen domain but its the only thing that makes sense.

I know Moniker.com offers a Max Lock product on domain names, a second step authorization system meant to make it much harder to steal a domain but we have no idea of whether this domain was covered by the Max Lock or not but appears to be another huge black eye for Moniker.com a company that has seen more than its share of problems.

If this is a case of a stolen domain, its Certainly the most valuable domain since Sex.com to have be stolen, which led to years to lawsuits, but was taken under a completely different “paper” transfer system which existed years ago.

According to Alexa.org, Porn.com is the 854th most visited site on the Internet......

How much?!

To put it into perspective so many other adult websites rank well higher in terms of traffic.

Perhaps because its the most easiest domain to filter out for being an adult website lol

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 7, 2014
Law Offices of Corey D. Silverstein, P.C. – Bingham Farms, Michigan

PORN.COM RECOVERED

We can now confirm that Porn.com, one of the largest and top adult entertainment websites in the world, was recently “hijacked” by an unknown third party. Porn.com was originally purchased in 2007 for $9.5million making it the 3rd most expensive domain of all time.

Since learning of the hijacking, Porn.com’s attorneys Corey D. Silverstein, and Paul Keating, with the assistance of Larry Walters have worked tirelessly to recover Porn.com and return it to its rightful owner. Porn.com is presently in transit back to domain registrar Moniker.

The domain was recovered through the diligent efforts of Porn.com's legal team, in cooperation with the registrars and Verisign. At no time did Porn.com consider payment of any ransom or settlement fee to retrieve its rightful property.

As a result of Porn.com’s legal team’s efforts, despite the hijacker’s malicious attempt to steal Porn.com, at no time was day‐to‐day business affected at Porn.com and consumer experience was not impacted in the slightest.

Porn.com and its attorneys continue to conduct a detailed investigation into how this event occurred and intend to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions.

During this unfortunate event, Porn.com’s attorneys utilized all available tools including but not limited to Mr. Keating initiating UDRP proceedings through the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”). Additionally, Porn.com was at all times poised to take aggressive legal action in the event that the registrar did not act quickly to remedy this blatant act of domain theft.

Porn.com thanks the countless individuals that offered assistance and did assist during this difficult event.

All further media inquiries should be made by email and directed to Corey D. Silverstein ([email protected]), however, due to the continued investigation regarding this matter, no further information shall be provided at this time.

All's well that ends well

Its a bizarre press release, it seems the amateurish nature is directly comparable to that Marcus bloke who did the plentyoffish dating website (who made up facts to push the website) which is probably now the largest "free" dating site. I would expect more from a law firm.

Good news for them, its a no brainer really, I happen to think it would have been a bit different had the value of the domain been less.

Why wouldn't a name like this go to MarkMonitor? Aren't they so secure that they need a DNA test, retina scan and finger print before a transfer? O_o

MarkMonitor is not so secure, they were even hacked not long ago

Anyone else think that this might have something to do with the 1.something BILLION passwords that were hacked by the Russians less than a week ago?
