Hi @Porkbun

Immediately after domain registration, many tasks need to be arranged, both by you and by the domain investor registrant, such as listing on marketplaces and the associated TXT verification and NS changes.

Is there a way to reduce the time taken for your "Pending Initial Setup" phase? No changes can be made to DNS during this period. Currently, the wait time is quite long, which disrupts our workflow.

I understand this might be done in batches for efficiency reasons, but could you please investigate if it can be expedited?

Hi again @Porkbun

Please fix the following Porkbun/Cloudflare DNS issues. It's not possible to make any DNS changes, atm.

Thank you.

@Porkbun Could be that provisioning of new domains had an additional delay because of the Porkbun/Cloudflare DNS errors mentioned above. Still, I'd be interested in a shorter provisioning time for newly registered domains.

@Future Sensors we're having some significant issues with Cloudflare, they've been "looking into it" for the last couple days now and that's probably what is causing the issues.

I think if you set up custom nameservers in your account setting, that might bypass that whole issue?

Thanks for your transparency, @Porkbun. That’s why we appreciate you.

Let’s hope Cloudflare can resolve these issues soon.

I do use custom nameservers (own hardware in several DCs), but not for my domain investments. Those all have the nameservers of major marketplaces. So, it depends on what you mean by 'custom'.

Right after fresh registration, I use the default Porkbun nameservers (set as default in my Porkbun settings). Then, I perform TXT verification with the major marketplaces and finally set one external nameserver set for the landers. When adding the TXT RR I also received the above error message.

This time, the delay in provisioning was already noticeable with the default Porkbun nameservers (which also use Cloudflare).

I assume these temporary issues are only noticeable during changes and not at other times?

Well we just got a note from Cloudflare that it should be cleared up, can you see if that helped at all?

I've added a TXT RR for 1 domain that has PB NS using the Bulk interface, and it was added immediately.

Yesterday it took a long time to add a TXT RR this way, so I think the issue has been fixed.

Thank you.

Dear Porkbun Members,

Please be aware that today, August 31st, is the final day before the global .com price increase by Verisign.

If you already have any existing .com domains registered through Porkbun (or any other registrar), you can renew them today at the current renewal price. Tomorrow, most registrars will adjust their .com registration and renewal prices.

For new .com registrations at Porkbun, there’s also this special offer of $6.99 per domain. Valid until the end of September only.

I noticed today that the number of domains in the cart is now displayed, which makes for an even more satisfying experience! This spares me the hassle of counting items that I'm renewing.

EDIT - Apologized below - turned out my claim was incorrect.

I removed the original post to not confuse others since what I claimed did not occur

Searched underwrite.io 3 days ago and it was avail. Very few taken TLDs for this word. Saved it to buy today when black friday deals hit at Dyna and bam... saw it was taken day after my search. yea, i realize it is possible it is coincidence. But I doubt it because as I say, it is not a popular word and has only 1 developed website.

As per expireddomains.net it was dropped 8 days ago. Namebio shows one reported sale. And now re-registered on Namecheap. I'd say competition, not front-running.

In that case, I retract my prior statement as I'd agree it was competitive. I should've checked expired domains before letting it sit. Thanks for educating me on this domain, it is appreciated.

I got front run on a domain search at Porkbun. Searched underwrite.io 3 days ago and it was avail. Very few taken TLDs for this word. There are a million other ways for us to make money that we have historically shied away from. Why we would participate in the most atrociously unethical and illegal behavior to make, what, maybe make a few hundred dollars?

We make $0.00 off every .com domain. We fight registries against predatory premium price increases against our customers. We've fought them even when it's not our customers! I think we deserve better than base accusations of illegal activity with zero hard evidence to back it up.

There's not a single employee here that'd be willing to risk the entire accreditation and the livelihood of everyone who works for Porkbun to start dabbling in front running. We are not that selfish and I will categorically refute any claim otherwise.

Sorry, but I'm just so tired of hearing claims of front running. There has been no actually substantial claim made in years and at the end of the day, it just isn't feasible or worth it on any scale.

Edit: I realize this comes off rather scathing. My intent is not to try and bash the OP but simply express frustration over the whole issue and try and nip in the bud once and for all. Porkbun still loves you all.

Why so easily make the worst possible theory for a single experience like this at a very well respected registrar? I would consider having much more to present to back up such a claim before haphazardly doing so.
