One of my domain names, which was leased to a buyer, was canceled by Afternic as the buyer defaulted. The Afternic TA team sent me an email with the transfer code for the domain name, so I can get back the domain name. As the domain name has an expiry in 2026, I asked them if they could move the domain name to my GoDaddy account instead of me transferring it out to another registrar. It’s been 16 days now, there has been no response from the TA team to my query. I sent a follow-up email 12 days ago and another one 5 days ago.

Why is the Afternic TA team so incompetent? Why don't they respond to customer emails? I am disappointed with their attitude, and poor customer support.

If you have faced a similar situation, please share your thoughts with me.

Hi @DigitalAsset
16 days is certainly not what we want to hear. Could you send us a DM with the domain in question?

After opening this thread in Namepros, they gave me back my domain name. Instead of replying to my original email and follow ups, they sent me a new email and closed the case. They never apologized for the delay or for their poor communication.

For regular domain sales through Afternic, about 50% of the time they delay the domain payments and do not have any ETA. When a buyer makes a payment for a domain, they verify the buyer's payment and send me an email about the domain sale. I provide the auth code, the domain reaches Afternic escrow and for whatever reason the payment gets delayed. About 50% of the time the payment takes anywhere from weeks to one month. Doesn't this sound shady?. TA team never responds to emails. Then I get in touch with the general Afternic support (very responsive), they communicate with TA and then I get a blunt reply from TA. I would like to hear the comments from others if they had similar experiences.

it sucks to pay transfer 40usd on io or even co.. and got forbid some fancy pricey tld... but 10 bucks for com etc is normally not something I argue for much... and probably neither do afternic wanna spend too much time on it.. hence maybe lack response... dan is always cool enuff to even pay renew on io and all tld I guess each year.. for ongoing lto.. gonna miss that from dan...

My results are nowhere near 50% delayed payments. In the last year, none of my AN transactions have been more than a few days for processing. I don't have tons of sales, but average about one per month, generally in the 3k-12k range. They've been especially fast for me recently when compared to a couple of years ago. If you are leaving, why do you want to share similar experiences? Seems like time would be better spent getting things set up in your new home.

What makes you think I am leaving? I am just sharing my feedback about Afternic TA support. What do you mean by new home? Your comment is irrelevant to the thread.

Pick up the phone and call them.

Best to have an account manager at Afternic, so he/she can help follow up with any issue. Most of the time, I received payout in less than a week.

I'll have to agree with the OP here. Issues related to LTO are relayed via an untrackable email exchange that is not transparent to the user. All I get is cookie cutter responses acknowledging the issue and its processing by the TA team. But past that, I get zero notices on updates or resolution. In fact, I see myself whether the issue was resolved or not. To top it off, a survey arrives, asking me for feedback. Of course, due to the reasons I described above that feedback reflects the quality of the TA's performance: bad.

Me too. I received a request from them to push the domain to the buyer because it hadn’t been 60 days yet. After several days, I received an email indicating that the transaction was canceled, and they suspended my account without any explanation.

I've a funny story: In my case, the domain was within the 60 day window after a registrar change with 3 weeks remaining. After the LTO deal was made, I was instructed to unlock the domain and give out the auth code. I mentioned the issue and TA told me the deal would fall through and to remove from my Afternic account all domains that were in the same situation. I stayed quiet for 3 weeks, during which there was complete silence from TA, who not only had collected payment from the buyer but the buyer was confident the domain was in their account (a ghost instance of it, perhaps.) Fact is, the domain was for 3 weeks in a different registrar, all while the buyer believed they were controlling it. Three weeks later, I unlocked the domain and provided the auth code to TA who then moved it out and paid out the first installment, on time for the 2nd installment to be collected LOL

Moral of the story: the Afternic TA team is slow in doing things that affect domain transfers.
