First off, who is your registar, is it your name, when did it expire?
Is this a premium name? If so your registar could be stroking you
in order to sell the name at auction. The ICANN "domain life cycle"
applies to all extentions, and if this is still in redemption it's the
registar you get it back from after paying redemption fee.
While in redemption, even though the domain has expired, it still
belongs to you.
This is Godaddys setup, the only thing different from anyone else
is the "grace period", each registar is different in this, however the
42 day redemption period is the same for all.
Day 18 after expiration = end of current registrant grace period.
Day 19 Godaddy redemption goes into a 10 day auction period
Day 30 is a 12 day wait for winner up to the 41 day. (During these 12 days the current registrant still has the ability to redeem the name for $80)
On day 42 if the current registrant does not redeem the name it is giving the winning bidder. If there are no bidders on the name then it is given to the person with a backorder. If no back order and no winning bidder the registry takes the name and it goes into redemption with them for 30 days and released to the public for new registration.
This was quoted to me by the Executive Accts Mngr at Godaddy.
Call the registar and ask for a supervisor, if that doesnt work ask for a manager, if that doesnt work demand the owner. If they have an 800 #
keep pounding it every minute until you get results.
Good Luck!
