Namecheap is a bunch of sneaky people.

They now want 200 bucks from me, because my bank "charge back" on them, when I AM PRETTY sure I paid it off...My money was debited.

They locked my account for a year (and only a month after I paid for it)...I don't even remember being told that my bank charged back to namecheap...I mean, the bank did not even notify me.

A year ago, I didn't have the cash to solve this problem, but now that I do, I was asking them to unlock my account, and they bounced back with a response "no, give us your wired transfer of money" to pay THE 200 ANnnd....the DOMAINS themselves!

And all of this rukus for ONE domain name...In the same account, I have 3 (including the one I'm talking about), two of them displayed my website very well...but one has been down for a year thanks to the "lock."

Just when I had a successful domain name in my hands, Its taken away from me. Grrr....... >:(

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but NameCheap has a pretty stellar reputation when it comes to registrars. I'm not sure if you will find too many people that share your dislike for them here.

Dude, believe me, I LOVED the hell out of the registrar for a month after I bought the domains.

It was recommended by one of our programmers, and I can't believe I'm having a problem with this site...I researched the rep for Namecheap shortly after, so I thoguht I was safe....I was feeling proud of my choice of going with my friend's advice.

until they pissed me off.

I've been with them for years (since around 2001, I believe) with no issues whatsoever. Try PMing them on either this forum, or WebHostingTalk.com -- I believe they go by the username "enetwork" or something similar.

They are usually more than happy to help with any issue, and almost always resolve the issues (from what I've seen). Don't knock em until you try everything...

hmmm, did the bank charge back or not?

Sorry to hear about your awful experience.

I also had a "not so good" experience with them, but waiting for an hour on the phone listening to "your call is very important to us..." fixed the problem.

I recently realized that they were Enom resellers and not registrar.

Fancy meeting you here from WHT, NCShady. :)

I'm going to post here what I replied to your thread there but summarized.

All registrars treat chargebacks as fraud, no ifs ands or buts. Once they get
a chargeback, they'll suspend and "take back" any domain name whose first
and last name matches that of the charged-back credit card in question.

And their doing so is an accepted business practice among them. You don't
have to agree with it, but that's on the consumer's viewpoint, and it's a
different story if you're on the business provider's side.

As the others said, your bank doesn't do a chargeback without a reason.
More so without a valid one.

Why did a chargeback occur in the first place?

WHT also?
Yeah, throw digitalpoint and sp and I'm sure others, as well.

NCShady,
Bottom line, check your bank records. If you did pay it, then they made a clerical error. If you didn't, and your bank did a chargeback, then you forgot something that's hard to forget, OR your bank made an error.
Why post and run here when YOU are the only one that can find things out without saying you're "almost" sure that you paid it?

hmm, never in my life have I used the services of namecheap.com Never in my life have I met or dealt with you either. However, if I were a judge presiding over a case during which a plaintiff (you) makes a crucial statement including the words "I AM PRETTY sure I paid it off" - I am sorry, but the case would me dismissed in no time...

On the other hand, I feel bad for your domain losses and I suggest that you don't give up and concentrate your energy on trying to recover your account instead of trashing a company that is probably just following its policy. I deal with different types of businesses, small and big, on the every day basis (both personal and business issues) and what I have learned very quickly is that it does not pay to get mad. If I cannot get what I want, I simply hang up the phone and try again a minute later. I never lose my temper and soon enough I find a person willing to cooperate. Very rarely does this approach fail, even in far fetched situations, which yours isn't.

Good luck!

My emotions are getting the best of me, so from time to time, I lose my temper, and this is one of those days...They've never been cooperative with me....I tried to be as professional as possible, and I blew up the moment they said "We want you to wire a transfer to us" I tried my best with name cheap that I didn't feel anything until that point. Its stuff like that, that is THOUGHT provoking.

Lets top it off with the fact that THEY said in another forum, that its MY fault? Its my fault that I used a debit card that I put MY money INTO before I BOUGHT the domains!? Sorry, for losing my temper, but it was justified...because my financial situation is not good...

I DON'T need to deal with this...I never did in the first place, since I DON'T....HAVE...A JOB!

*Takes a deep breath*

I've never had a problem, and I ONLY use my debit card, it's all I have. But another option might be paypal or egold? Definitely try talking to their support, I did have one domain which I didn't receive confirmation for and they re-e-mailed it to me within minutes.

To keep things simple I'll post what I posted over on WHT here:

NCShady,

A chargeback is not proccessed by a bank for insufficient funds but only if it was a fraudulently used credit card or a deliberate claim that you did not receive the goods as ordered. If you did not have enough credit the transaction would not have gone through. We at Namecheap.com give fraud the highest priority and move swiftly to discourage this practice on our site. Fraud not only increases business costs, raises prices for our customers, but also affects our reputation with our merchant account with the credit card companies. Also, we not only get the amount of the transaction removed from us but are charged with an extra fee due to the chargeback. This situation, by your own admission, was caused by you and yet you decide to sign up for a forum and try to tarnish our name. In your statement that you paid the credit card company back, it seems doubtful as they would not have filed a chargeback with us and removed the funds. You registered the domains a while back and we recently received the chargeback, so this statement is false as the bank, again, would not have filed the claim with us. I investigated this issue and confirmed you were responded to correctly and professionaly. At this point we will end this discussion.

Sincerely,
Richard K.

NameCheap STILL sucks.

Even a year after Namecheap locked my account; it wasn't solved, instead, they made the situation worse.

At the time of my "rant" about namecheap; I didn't understand what was going on, I was confused about the chargeback situation. Just because I said "I'm pretty sure" doesn't mean squat, ivoy, in fact, I have the proof that I DID pay my dues. Guess what? Namecheap didn't buy it, they thought it was a photoshop work. I sent them proof of purchase.

Now, I'm still stuck with the situation. The arrogant C.E.O of the company is still on my back like a greedy monkey that he is. He loves money, in fact, he said he welcomes the lawsuit against them.

I've seen your posts in the other forums and you are "WEAK", nothing but a bitter sore loser with nothing else to do but cramp peoples styles. You have been on the same rant and really, no one is interested anymore, you got flamed and it's done with. L-E-T I-T G-O! Please, for gods sake, let it go. I'm begging you, please. Just let it die! Argghhhhh!!
