One thing I'm not quite clear on: do search engines find parked pages? So, for example, given enough time, if I park a domain with NameDrive, will it eventually show up in Google even if I didn't submit it?

Yea hes right, go with a 5 page site over a parked page anyday. People have become so familiar with parked pages that when they see one they just assume 'oh, nothings here' and move on.

Yes, parking pages do get indexed by search engines but not very often. Going with 4 or 5 page mini site would be the best. If looking for a domain parking site, where your domain will be included in search engines. Try http://www.sensedrive.com
