It's not about custom or Parked's templete pic. it's about how pic related to what your visitors looking for.

I have many domains doing well with Parked pics and other needed custom pics.

Is there a SEO element to this do you think (i.e. is some traffic coming from Google image search results), or is it simply that people perceive the rest of the content on the page as likely to be more relevant because the custom picture is always likely to be highly relevant to the keyword you have chosen?

2 drives in one of our primary disk array died, it's easier for them to rebuild with the servers down then when they are up.

It could be an hour or two before Parked.com is back up. All of your sites, are up and running just fine.

wow, 2 drives! You're very lucky it wasn't 3. I always worry about 2 drives dying at the same time (since my environment is all raid 5 )

Could anyone shed some light on why my application with parked.com was rejected?
I signed up with some really good names, wanting to move everything over from Sedo yet they rejected my application!

You newer know why, but you could try following:

1) Choose only best .com or .net keyword names that have type-in traffic
2) Sign up with more domains. If you did submit 10, try again with 100 or 200
3) Try via referral. PM me for link

Hi Silvi, nice to see another indonesian people here.. Anyway, i have been look some chance that indonesian people have succsess to register and join with parked.com again. I dont know whats the way, maybe its related with the link that you have using when join with parked.com (*your upline).

Custom content has never made a difference to my parked pages..Custom pics have..

I experimented ripping off a parked page of all the colours it had and making it completely white..I added a nice custom PIC related to the site..I saw a 30 % jump in my CTR...

The only thing that matters is the visitor..Either he has to be too dumb to click or he must really have some excess money to buy anything that comes up...Apart from getting indexed in google I see no reason why custom content should be there...The disadvantage is people getting involved with the content to go click...(I had a video site that used to make good revenue daily before adding videos from youtube which decreased the CTR by 4 %)

One more thing that I have noticed though is adding your logo to the custom PIC which makes a considerable difference....

My experience has been limited though for 6 months...


I have also noticed that the width and height of a template can change the ctr...

Parked templates are less on height and do not stretch fully..Comparing them to someone like namedrive , namedrive has a better ctr with most of the domains..(not more than 1-2 %) but stil makes a different..

Parked template also has many links conjured up too closely..Comparing that with Bodis it only has about 7-8 main links but wide and clickable...

One thing that I also would love to see is the ability to customise link colour like google. Thats also one of the reason that some domains fo pretty well at Bodis..Normal human perceives blue colour as a link and does not click...anything different can help...

It depends on the domain. Parked has plenty of good stock photos but sometimes you can find a photo thats a better match.

Lets say your domain is oxford-dictionary-sales.ccc. Adding a photo of the actually dictionary would likely help your CTR. I've done something like that for a very specific car site that I have.

With the content it can help with your SERPs. My car site is ranked top three on MSN and Yahoo so having good content is helpful (plus the existing links that the dropped domain had).

One trick that I do is change the content every week BUT I'm changing it with links to ebay auctions with my affiliate link (auctions on topic so I'm getting some clicks). No cash yet but I figure if I'm changing the content I might as well do something that might help me in another way. Changing content keeps the search engines coming back.
