Pagerank is based on your backlinks not on your sites popularity. The general idea for pagerank is that your site has good content and many other sites links to your sites as they found the content good and this will give you some pointers for pagerank counting.
Your parked domain probably still have backlinks from when it previously was a site and thus gives authority for PR awarding. Useful tool to check your site backlinks is the Yahoo Siteexplorer
Site Explorer - Yahoo! Site Explorer

Goodluck :guilty::cy:

I agree that pr is deppend of backlink.
First of all is the quality of backlinks that you are acquiring, quality means do follow links and high PR pages that is relevant to your site.

It's all about the quality of links you have. You could have 200 crappy backlinks that don't do much for you but once you have a couple great ones then you should see results.

I think its not yet enough for you to get the desired PR.
IF you have good quality backlinks then that's a good start.
if your site has good quality contents then there you will see results.
Just be patient on that.

I think to get a quality page rank..the important think is to have good page ranking backlinks...which is considered as most important for hign page rank...try to get as many backlinks from a high page ranking sites and monitor the incoming links...coz if those links are new and low pageranked ur site may get affected...coz google calcultes through page rank and the age of the site.

PR increase when a site gets quality backlinks. PR totally depends on quality of and quantity of backlinks that a site have. You can try to get some quality BL for your forum and hopefully its PR will increase.

However, if you want PR to increase in hope to get better ranking in SERP, then I think that will not help. PR is one of the 200 factors that Google consider while ranking a site in SERPs. There are many things that matter in a site ranking.

Completely agree -- much better to have a few very high quality links (eg. DMOZ) than to have 1000 links from splogs.

Not only backlinks, links from authority sites! 20 links from PR4+ is a lot better than 1000 links from irrelevant websites. Good luck

All you need is ONE very trusted site to link to you that has a high page rank.

First page rank update with my site gave me a 4, and it came from 1 link. THe site linking in has hundreds of high page rank sites linkiing in.

Yes, high quality backlinks are very very important..Get high quality links from other websites (with page rank 4 or above) as much as possible..

The other thing to take note is that you are not ruining page rank of your pages unintentionally yourself...make sure you either 301 redirect your all www pages to non-www url or vice versa.

Don't worry about PR as it's the search engine ranking positions and traffic that you should be worried about. However to gain these you will do a lot of similar things that will probably build your PR in the process anyway. Just remember to focus on quality, relevant backlinks and you'll be bound to do well.

If anyone ask how important the PageRank is in the sector of web mastering? The answer surely will come as it came before. The webmasters of different well known websites spends too much time to improve their PageRank. But this is not only the way to link up your web pages to other sources or to hook up with other web sites. So the fact is that PageRank will only be useful when it is used wisely.

As all members said.

Quality inbound links effect your PR completely.

So try to get quality backlinks for your forums and try to invite more and more members who can post quality content there.

Thanks
Jerry :)

As they say, content is king in SEO. You should always be ready to come up with ways wherein you can promote your site and ensure that they contain quality content. When search engines observe that your site has more traffic, they will most likely index it more often enabling you to have a higher PR.

The method of PR calculation is still the same, backlinks. Apart from getting backlinks from other sites, you may also need to control your page's PR flow to avoid losing the value.
