Best way to increase Page Rank

I need to know the best way to keep page rank and boost page rank in this situation:

On Server 1, I have Site A with PR 5. It is a non-profit, non-ads, humanitarian site.

On Server 1, I have Site B with PR 5. It is a quite different non-profit, non-ads, humanitarian site but I will be changing it to become computer related with ads.

On Server 2, I have Site C with PR 0. This is more or less a copy of Site B but with a more relevant name.

What I need to know is, should I redirect everything from Site B to Site C for a while (thus making Site B effectively invisible), or should I keep Site B along with Site C for a time (thus having duplicate content), or some other way? I don't want to lose the page rank on Site B but want to boost the page rank on Site C pretty quickly.

I know linking from external sites, especially high ranking ones, will help, but is there a best way with my particular situation?

I would reccomend creating a link to site C from site A and B. It might not get site C a pagerank of 5, but it will give it something most likely. I myself wouldnt want to go messing around with redirects or anything if you already are satisfied with the PR your already getting on one of your sites. I wouldnt want to risk losing it.

Thanks, Snowbird. I have a little knowledge of these things so I am afraid it might be dangerous! I believe google doesn't like duplicate content, so I will have to change Site B sometime. However, if I do that and lose my backlinks, won't I lose page rank too? I guess I am asking if anyone knows of a best time period to change over. I have started transferring article by article, so that the blog and search engines get pinged everyday about Site C. However, site B is basically dead or a duplicate, so I am not sure what the best approach is.

Why can't you create original content for site C and raise its PR? so, you'll have two sites with high PR?

I am creating some original content as well as keeping what I already have, squatter. Are you suggesting that just as long as there is SOME original content, then it will raise the PR? Any ideas on how much or how little original content is needed to keep Google happy?

If site C is a copy of B with a more relevant name then 301 all the links from site B to C. theres no point in having to duplicate sites and you might as well give the pagerank to the site with the most relevant name.

The best way to increase your site's pagerank is : keep your site updated on a regular basis, get RELEVANT links. Period.

OK, thanks everybody for your advice. How does this sound?

As snowbird and nmr86 said, it makes sense not to risk losing PR on site B. So instead of redirecting B to C, I will modify much C content and add original C content, thus having 3 sites with different content, although two will be fairly similar for a while. I will then gradually change B into computer related, look for relevant links to it and hope I can keep its page rank.

FYI, Site A and B have kept their PR5 with only a couple of updates in 6 months. But I take your point about updates, StudioWorks, and I guess it is risky not to update.

I think you're taking the best approach. If you redirect B to C, you'll lose all the PR for B and when it comes time to put up the computer site, you'll be starting from scratch. Also, it will be important to update B with new relevant backlinks, becuase such a dramatic change in content could have a terrible effect on the PR.

You seem to have the right concept, at least from my little bit of experience.

Hi,

Dublicate content is not good. Change the content then I would place a link to site C PR0 on sites A and B so both A and B give site C some of their PR.

Place a link, a clickable link on A and B sites where the page rank is 5
