.tv OS Tuvalu is on the Verge of Aids Epidemic!

The small South Pacific island nation of Tuvalu is on the brink of an HIV epidemic, the regional head of UNICEF says.

Data collected recently found 11 cases of HIV on the island, which has a population of 9000, giving Tuvalu one of the highest per capita rates of the virus in the Pacific, regional head of UNICEF, Will Parks said.

"Tuvalu is on the verge of reaching a general epidemic amongst its population," Dr Parks told Radio New Zealand.

"The Pacific must do all it can to prevent the scenario that we've seen unfold in Papua New Guinea (where HIV is a generalised epidemic)."

More than 95 per cent of HIV cases in the Pacific have occurred in Papua New Guinea, according to reports.

It would moreso be the (potential) developers ... but one can bet they are discussing the historical pitfalls and risks associated with the ccTLD ".TV" with End users; end result is the extension remaining just a small niche, vanity address and by-and-large unknown by the masses, IMHO.

The ".TV" won't necessarily go away from the teeny isle of Tuvalu sinking or other / epidemic ... it will cease once Verisign (perhaps in 2016 when its current contract expires?) can't make any more GREED money from it from those - mainly domainers - registering and annually renewing (including hefty "Legacy" domains)! :cy: :imho:
