Org and Info Price Increase

Got a note today from Fabulous that PIR and Afilias are raising their rates again and that their registration/renewal fees will increase accordingly - effective 4/1 for .info, 7/1 for .org.

Expect other registrars to follow suit, and to see an increase on .biz too.

Should come as no surprise since they lifted the price controls a couple of years ago, but if you have a lot of org's or info's renewing later in the year, heads up!

It might help greatly for .info to get bit pricier. It'd help a little with getting it dis-associated with scammers... maybe.

Have you heard how much the price increases are supposed to be? I would be interested to know as I have several that will need to be renewed.

Not sure what the base increases from Pir and Afilias were, but on the pricelist I saw they were going up by 40 or 50 cents for me.

Could be different at other registrars.

When have you ever known prices to come down for the customer in the real world? (The only thing that makes prices come down is competition between companies, they do not come down for our benefit regardless of what you have been led to believe lol)

Sparhawke agreed. When it comes to gTLD's i can only remember price increases the last few years. Though last year the ICANN fee went from 20 cent to 18 cent. For ccTLD's i have seen the prices go down. The .IN Registry lowered it's price this month for domain renewals. We adjusted our prices accordingly.
