I've previously spoken about the Extreme Optimist, Moderate Optimist and Pessimist.

I have identified another opinion. It appears less sincere.

The best analogy that I can make is this... Have you ever heard about someone who purchases 1 share of stock so that he/she can leverage an objective - for instance an annual shareholder's meeting.

Buying a share of stock enables a voice. It's just a hard pill to swallow the sincerety of the concern.

Thread after thread shows a pattern at Namepros. Interesting topics followed by extreme, extreme caution.

I think that it permeates so deeply, so persistently that it should at least be a topic of conversation.

Everyone has their opinions, and you are dealing with a lot of different personalities in here as well.

You know what they say, opinions are like.....well you know....everybody's got one.

If everyone's opinion were the same, none of us would learn anything and this place wouldn't be worth my time.

That being said, the opinions I like best are the ones that are backed up with hard cold facts.

I learn a lot from the people in here, especially from the skeptics of .mobi, whom I enjoy putting in their place from time to time!

Righto ... it's this free (and also at no cost) exchange of ideas and opinions that makes this such a wonderful place to learn, share, and - transcending an entity as domain name board - genuinely care for and about other members and their thoughts, IMHO. :music:

Most here who visit and frequent the .MOBI Forumโ„ข have a vested interest ... whether it be one or a few .MOBI domains, or literally dozens, time and effort alone, and/or even uniquely developed and compelling websites! Each can freely interact with the other - in peace and without fear or retribution - and, above all, learn from other's thoughts, experiences, and even concerns. It's a healthy balance, and I appreciate the Extreme Optimists, Moderate Optimists and Pessimists, and even the newly annointed, and perhaps best looking of all, Extremely Cautious! :tu: :snaphappy:

Just my two vested sense.

Jeremy i see what you mean. Buy one mobi or any other name in an extension and sound off, but honestly id rather people sound off then no sound at all. The best way for me to decipher trending viewpoints is to listen to both extremes and average them for a general consensus.

By the way Jeremy i listened to your podcast with Monte on Domain Masters. Nice interview and was enjoyable to listen to.

Don't get me wrong...

I believe that there is a place for all opinions.

I'm just asking whether others have identified something that feels less than sincere very actively participating in almost every thread.

I think there is mostly sincerity, but about what I am uncertain. I imagine for a moment I owned a few .tv's (which I don't) and I then (if rules allowed) I frequented the tv forums to share my opinions repeatedly that dot tv is unnecessary and has no clear mission and most reg's are worthless unless developed. While I would be sincere in my convictions I don't know why I would be doing it.

Jeremy, sounds a bit cryptic. Could you elaborate further so that this thread can gain some traction?
And anyway, don't we have Yelo for cryptic intrigue? :hehe:
But to answer your question... Yes, and it is both invasive and pervasive yet seldom persuasive.

Heheh...

No problem. I thought it was obvious.

Assuming it's not, let's move on.

Jeremy, I'd characterize that ilk as myopic "Naysayers"

I've witnessed naysayers throughout my life.

blah, blah, blah, oh you can't start your own business, you can't ask her out, don't do that, MOBI is snakeoil for suckers, don't speak up....

Naysayers fuel entrepreneurship, ingenuity, risk, & success.

Naysayers reside on the sidelines.

Naysayers frequently engage in excessive complaining, negative banter and/or a genuinely poor and downbeat attitude. (Nobody knows MOBI, these sites redirect to the wrong place, etc, etc)

Naysayers constantly emphasize the worst of a situation and hope for the worst outcome.

A Naysayers' strong aversion to risk cause them to miss opportunities, thus the naysayers enjoy throwing cold water on a warm entrepreneurial group --they will stop at nothing to bring a general sense of negativity to any situation

Naysayers have the capacity to bitch & moan for hours on end about the most insignificant observations. They tend to travel solo, but have the keen ability to spread their pessimistic attitude to a group of unsuspecting bystanders and encourage others to employ their mindset.

I thank all the naysayers for fueling my success.

Michael

When I first joined this forum, there was a conspiracy theory that I was a .mobi plant! Now we have conspiracy theories about anti-.mobi plants, it never ends....

Makes me want to register "plants.mobi", but sadly it's already taken.

This is where we need to hear from the Mole (honest to Goodness, a long-standing member of this site - and one heck of a dude, though he's been offline for a good bit), IMHO. :yell: :gl:

Jeff,

As a matter of fact, I think it was you who got into that conversation with me at the beginning about Oswald being the lone shooter, and you thinking I was a .mobi plant. Remember that?

Man I need to visit the mobi forum more often. Is there some spy vs spy action going on in these parts of namepros?

Not really, but I like reading and learning from your posts Garrett! :gl: :talk:

Sink or swim, hell or high water, hook or crook ... at the end of the day, NO ONE can predict the future for .MOBI or anything else. What we can do, though ... along the way ... is ask questions, share ideas, opinions and toughts, and continue learn & grow, IMHO. :)

See you soon.

I agree with you Jeff -- it's far too early to make doomsday conclusions or have megalomaniacal tendencies...
