The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

We also need a moderator free section, I think the moderators here are a bit over zealous. I notice far too many post going missing and that worries me a bit. A section where we can speak our mind without fear of moderation would be appreciated.

I created this thread due to an alert x 2 sent to me by a moderator

"Your post in the thread Ryan Colby most unethical broker in my opinion was deleted. Reason: Your thoughts on this are appreciated, but please use/create a new thread to discuss closing/editing/deleting/moving of threads, because these posts are off topic. Thanks for understanding"

Some peeps may not know that you can post in the Private Legal Discussion thread which is Not accessible or indexed by search engines.

Cheers
Corey

I got the same message and they deleted my post. I drafted up an I am leaving the Forum topic because I was so annoyed when I saw the topic go down by almost two pages.

I have some good friends here who talked me out of it but I cannot say I am pleased with how the moderating is going on here. I think they are too quick on the draw and risk losing members. I don't bruise easily but if I feel my speech is being stifled then I will not participate any longer.

Members had valuable points discussing the possibility of moving or closing the slander topic. I saw a ton of posts removed because they discussed what to do with the topic to minimize damage to reputations.

I wonder what will happen if we discuss it here.... the whole topic was created to talk about the event, there should be no posts getting deleted now.

That's every section if the rules are followed. ;)

The most common reasons for deleted posts are derailing threads (Off-Topic Posts) and nonconstructive/disrespectful posts.

We value all members who contribute to the community and follow the rules. The rules on NamePros are fair and reasonable, and they allow everyone to voice their opinions as long as they do so constructively, professionally, and without antagonizing others. Everyone is expected to follow these expectations, and we strictly enforce them to maintain a professional environment within our community.

Thanks for understanding,

So please explain how I was off topic when a group of members were actively discussing what to do with the topic at hand. We were talking about the fate and outcome of the topic at hand. It was on topic because it was about the topic.

Now you quote rules about antagonizing others when that is clearly off topic and did not happen.

At the risk of being banned or deleted again, if I was moderator I would have to delete your post for being completely off topic.

HeHe, that said I will hold my peace now because my venting is done. Hopefully I picked the right space on the forum to express my opinion about that.

That was not the topic of the thread. The title and first post decide the topic. If the thread then has 99% posts about something else, those 99% posts will be moved or deleted if they come to our attention.

You're reading out of context. I was responding to your post about moderation and explaining the two most common reasons posts are deleted. Please read my post more carefully.

if I was moderator I would have to delete your post for being completely off topic.
You're right, my post is off topic. I was responding to your post, which is also off topic in this thread. Now I'm responding to another off-topic post of yours and my response to your off-topic post is also off topic. Do you see the spiral? It should be clear at this point why we delete off-topic posts as this thread is clearly being derailed by your off-topic posts and mine.

Please create a new thread or contact support if you have further questions that are not related to this thread. Thanks,

Read third post in by OP and you will see I am on topic, the OP indicated it himself.

Just saying.... moderating is a tough job but can alienate members if done too heavy handed.

I don't wish to create a rift so I will stand down, thank you for understanding.

I want to make sure we're on the same page, because it makes things run much smoother.

This is how it's decided:
The title and first post decide the topic.

If the OP later wants to change the topic and writes it in a later post in the thread, we will almost never consider that on topic. Just so you know for future reference. The topic is solely decided by the first post and title. Exceptions may exist, but they are very rare and decided on a case-by-case basis.

Hope that helps,

That does help, thank you for clarifying. When I ran my last forum we had a feature that allowed us to split a topic. It was a few checkmarks to select the posts and bang we had a new topic.

That might be a viable option instead of deleting posts.
