Using Music Legally

Hi as this section if for Legal issues online, domain disputes, trademark and copyright law, I guess this should go here. I am curious to know about using music on my website. I know at Clubs and such they can use what music they want as long as its not for commercial use... but I was wondering does the same apply for a website I am not talking about downloads those are a no no but such as backround music or having a virtual jukebox can I do this as long as I payed for the music origionally? or what... Thanks.
