question One word domain or 2 words phrase search

How/where do you check a one word .com or a 2 word phrase .com for monthly searches?
for accurate results.

and how do you evaluate the "phrase" - do you put in one word at a time,
or the 2 words together?

I put both words in and use adwords tool and google search.

thanks McDuke - I wasn't sure on a phrase if the search results were accurate
or just a "combination" of the single word searches,
which defeats the purpose I guess LOL
