Does "The" in front of a Domain Name make it Worthless like TheUS.com for example?

I came upon one short 2 Word term which when I searched 'The "Word Word".com' came up with 200 millions exact phrase (quotations around the phrase) Google Hits yet Valuate gave it 0 value and it was available for all domain extensions.

Does putting "The" in front of a short two word phrase or one word diminish the domains value to either nothing or near money/chump money?

Oddly enough putting "The" in front of the two word phrase I have in mind gives it 25 million google exact word (quotations) hits as opposed to 2 million hits with just the exact two word phrase alone without the, the!

Appreciate your thoughts.

There are occasional sales of such domains but I would not recommend you start looking for such domains to flip. Personally I hate "The+Keyword" domains but others may have a different view. Stick with two-word combinations which a business could create a brand on. Godaddy is the largest registrar so by reviewing their expiring domain lists you may find a few worth acquiring. Just keep in mind you aren't the only one looking.

I'm trying to understand why a short 2 word keyword with the in front with 25 million Google hits would be valued at 0 by Valuate and have nothing registered at all with any extension including Dot Com.

I agree with you to avoid using "The" but in the case of a .com with 25 million hits its kind of difficult.

Could be because automated appraisals are pointless and google 'hits' are just that - hits.

It doesn't matter how often "the ____" comes up on google, it just matters how often "the ____" is used together as a search term.

For instance "the tablets" has 1.3mil results on google but if anyone were doing a basic search on tablets they would just type "tablets". thetablets()com would be just stupid looking.

Thanks JayJay Can You Give Me a Link with exact word Searches as I'm Confusing them

with hits I think. I've always assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the number of Google "exact words" hits were total searches. If that is not what they are, is there any site (please include exact link) that will give you Google Searches for the exact word/words search. Thank you

Easiest way to get the data you really should be using is sign up for adwords and use the keyword planner.

I really dont see what it matters what google exact search says. You still have to rank the site on the first page for that to mean anything. Granted when you get there, then yeah, you can expect a lot of organic traffic.

Unless of course you mean, when you do a search it says "25,000,000 results found" then that means nothing imo.

The"Noun" is probably better than The"KeywordKeyword" in most cases. But I don't think any are a fast flip, in general.

Every week there are lottery winners but that doesn't make buying lottery tickets a good investment.

Before you start regging dozens of THE+Keyword domains because of a few random sales, you might want to take a look at how many of these are listed for sale at Godaddy auctions or SEDO. There are thousands and thousands of these names so what are your odds if one out of a thousand names sells? If register one thousand such names, how much does that cost you? If you sell one for $500, how did you do?

for the sales up, it is as 3 sales/2weeks
and the average price for the sales is about $2000

and for Dec. 2013, there were about 15 sales with the same The+word+word.com. at average of $2000

I see that you go with some higher searches+business domains and see what happens

use coupons for $2 + $3, and invest in some domains

Agree with you here. It is a numbers game and the lottery win scenario is on point.

Using the lottery analogy, a lottery ticket costs less than a domain registration and yet you can potentially win more than a million dollars - the odds are you will lose. With a domain registration, you will likely have to renew a name for years or do outbound marketing before a sale occurs - even then no guarantee it will ever sell. Most domain sales are for less than $1000 and SEDO's .COM average is around $600. Average portfolio turnover is 1-2% which means out of 100 domains in a portfolio, only one or two sell (and sales commissions have to be paid as well). Conclusion, without meaningful parking revenue (not likely on hand regs), this industry is tough.
