... and I'm stuck with domains worth at most in high $xx area.

What fun, eh?

I mean geez... so much money is made in this market. ... if you're lucky. (heh, being born on Friday the 13th at 4:20 PM has nothing to do with it?)

Who wants to buy? :D

4:20? I don't get that part. April 20th is international marijuana day, bob marleys birthday, and completely irrelevant but Hitlers birthday.

Well, 4:20 is also the time you smoke pot each day after school :D

Anyway, it's crazy: I submit a domain to greatdomains and it comes back a week later with a big red stamp on it that says "REJECT!" that makes me think of a loud alarm.

They wouldn't even accept JetRates.com.

Yes, it holds some records... they only accept it if it's worth more than $5K.

Have you seen my thread on GD? http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=144127

It's crazy to see some of the names they've rejected. They've accepted VarietyShow.tv, TrafficReport.tv, and PinotGrigio.us from me, but have rejected countless others. I think you are doing a great job of developing websites, and should probably stick with that, make a good profit off advertising and reselling the site, and then when you have $xx,xxx saved up, start trying to invest in more valuable names.

If your domains are selling for $XX then you are buying $XX domains.

People who make big money in this business are the people who have big $$$ to spend.

You are not going to just fluke some high dollar domain.

Not exactly................

I have had one of my domains accepted by greatdomains.com, it was one that i registered just 3 weeks before at a cost of $20, but, they wanted to "Dictate" to me what asking price I could use, and even set a much lower "Undisplayed" price at which they could sell it for.....Ridiculous, so I didn't bother listing with them since when I tried to contact them by e-mail several times to negotiate a more reasonable price for my domain they ignored and didn't reply, not once.........pathetic, oh by the way, they wanted to list at $25'000 and accept any offer over $15'000, but the domain is worth more, so even when you do get a listing invitation from them, it's not a cause for celebration...

Intresting, GD is usually notorious for OVERpricing domains. Would you mind sharing the domain?

GD drastically overprices. i had a few listed there for the XX,XXX range (they chose the price), but ended up selling them elsewhere for about 20% of what they were listed at (which was fair value).
