Alt TLDs are designed to run across networks that support the Anonymize.com DNS resolver. The Anomyize.com DNS resolver can be accessed in three ways:
  • 1. The free Anonymize.com VPN
  • 2. The free Anonymize.com Secure DNS resolver
  • 3. Through partner APIs
For more information about Alt TLDs, or to partner with us, contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to advise.

That is Epiks price list for the VPNs. It CLEARLY states what they are.

For a tech person, yes. It's clear. The less technically knowledgeable domainer? I doubt that's very clear.

When you search for domain.o you get the option to register it without any mention of it being an alt tld. No mention at checkout. Its just not right.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's ok that they offer them as they provide easy access to alts but it's confusing for the general public. List them under your VPN services or whatever but it's a totally different product offering. It shouldn't get treated as a domain registration.

but, in any reality - they are domains...... and if you have no technically knowledge - you shouldn't be a domainer until you gain some of the basics, such as research.... When i purchased my first .Coin & .Bit domains, the first thing i did was look them up. What this is, is a case of "Monkey see, monkey do" One guy bought and sold .Geek names here so others thought they could as well, so they ran to buy them all up, failing to RESEARCH. That is the "Domainers" fault.

And it says it in the most simple of terms (They are VPN domains) come on bro, the dumbest domainer should at least have some sort of sense to RESEARCH what a VPN domain is.

I agree to some extent. You should know what you're buying but the way it's advertised isn't right. Not entirely the registrars fault as you pointed out.

If I developed my own chrome plugin and let people register .web domains that can only be used by people running the plugin, would you call that a domain? I wouldn't. In essence that's what they're doing.

I gotta say, Epik really should update this page that turns up 1st page when I search google for .o domain name : https://www.epik.com/tld/o
".o domain name will help you improve your search engine rankings on google and other major search engines"

I would call that PokerStars.net lol.

".o is Global Domain Name. A new generic extension that is for everyone, everywhere & everything. Whether you are a corporation or a small business, a student or a startup your online presence is your success. Your ideas matter because it can give you a global recognition. Donโ€™t compromise on your domain name and get what you want to represent who you are."

I tried replacing the O in the url with NL and it's an identical page, so it looks like it's default place holder info and an oversight that these pages would not apply to openic names, they may not realize it's even a 1st page google result for .o domain name and if it's not linked internally on their site maybe google found it in a sitemap.

I hate that people can randomly call you through facebook, especially when you accidentally answer lol, should be a code they have to put that you give them personal for the call to go through.

I registered a handful of .geek domains at Epik. When I registered them, I didn't notice that the .geek domains were different.

After getting some feedback here on NP, I did some research and learned how they work. I still like the .geek domains I registered, however...

One of the names I got was 8.geek. After researching myself, I realized that .geek domains must be 3 characters minimum.

I reached out to Epik. They requested I provide the rule that said that. I simply copied and pasted right from the opennic rules page for .geek.

Took a day or two, but here is the reply I received from Epik about 8.geek:

Hello David,

8.geek has now been deleted and a full refund has been issued to your ISC.

If you have any other questions please do let me know by replying back to this email.

Have a great day :)

Basically, be careful of what you are registering. I think Epik is still working on learning these domains. They didn't know about a basic rule. This needs to improve some. A registrar should know about clear violations of an extension they are selling.

Thanks for sharing. And that's exactly the point. And you're and seasoned domainer. It's easy to fall for it when there so many new TLDs around.

I've been told Epik is working on it. Let's wait and see.
