I have a music domain that is ranked number 1 on google (skajamaica .com) for the search "ska jamaica" and number 3 for "ska" (and) "jamaica".
Here's my question, it's parked? Yeah, parked- at NameDrive.
I was actually searching for better keywords, it's my highest converting at over 50% but, was looking due to my suprise at the high%.
Anyways, I threw together a page HERE to summarize it.
I'm wondering:
What should I do? I know I want to develop it, but it's doing pretty well already, Let me know what you think. No this is not spam, I'm not selling this domain.

Develop the domain, I think it is very selfish parking domains, as someone who may want to develop it or buy it cannot.

Develop or Sell

I'm not quite sure, are you basing this domain on being top in the search for "ska jamaica" because, for a start "jamaica ska" doesn't have any overture value. Because no one would type that, where as "Jamaica Ska" does have overture and JamaicaSka.com is available.

Theres no point in developing a domain based on a bad search term.

OVT only tracks a limited number of searches, and not very specialized at that. I'm looking to develop a music based site, Ska is a type of music that originated in Jamaica with strong ties to American R &B and jazz, as well as calypso and other tropical music. It's probably not super high on the adsense list, but it's something I'd like to develop.
Incedentally, if you were searching for Ska from Jamaica (also known as "traditional ska" as opposed to "modern ska" or "punk ska" or "ska punk"), you'd probably type in "ska, jamaica" or "jamaican". I also own a few names with Jamaican in them, but have not had them parked until recently.
:hi: I did just reg "JamaicaSka.com" earlier this morning when I checked into NameDrive and saw what was going on with "skajamaica.com"
Thanks for your reply.

mrfike, it sounds like you might a good person to develop this site and have invested in other domains like it. If you are goind to develop a site, it might as well be something you are interested in. How much money you might make, does not seem to be the biggest consideration here. That's how I read your respones any.

Good luck

There are only 500 results returned for the search so it isnt actual all that much of a good niche

? Generally, parked domains are for sale so if someone wanted to develop it they could buy. How does that make parking selfish? If I own undeveloped lot in the mountains does that make me selfish for not throwing up a house on it?

Thanks guys for the feedback. I did want to remind you that for:
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,570,000 for "ska" "jamaica". (0.27 seconds)
the domain I mentioned is ranked 3 out of 2.5mil.
And yes, as one post pointed out, it is something I'm personally interested in, so it does cross two passions- music, and domain names (okay, maybe DNs are not a "passion", but....you get the pic). Anyways, that's my conflict, it's making plenty of money/getting traffic doing nothing. What if I develop it, even have someone else do the programming, and 'mess it up', it seems I'll have messed up something the likes of which I may never see again.
That's my conflict, not whether it's a good name, or whether I should sell etc...

I do not see how you could "mess it up". The traffic seems to be type-ins based on the term, not any previous website, so they will not go away. A website will add to that traffic. Write at least 500 words, blending in the key words wherever you can and find some relevant photos. That would be a start and it will grow with your interest.

Incidentally (that's my new favorite word), for the second search, "ska" (and) "jamaica" there are over 2 Million (2,000,000) results. This domain is ranked 3rd for that search. Screen shots and links to the searches are Here.
In reply to a couple of the other posts, it IS something I'm interested in, so the $$$ isn't the primary concern, but my conflict is this:
The domain is making money by itself, no content or even a welcome page, just a simple (albeit somewhat targeted) landing page. So, as I kinda said earlier, my question is, leave it alone and let it run, or develop and take the chances/costs associated?

Mrfike,

I don't know who you park with but I see nothing but profit keeping it right where it is.

You have awesome targeted keywords for your domain name and you are bound to get high conversion rates. Switching to what will get you ALL of those ppc links?

I say that is a good landing page for making revenue thru traffic and you will not do better putting up some content, especially if you cannot guarantee the same quanity and quality of links.

To have that with every name will bring fast rewards.

Just out of curiosity, I searched another domain I own:
methlaw .com (again, just parked at ND)
for "meth" AND "law"
and came up #6 out of 7MILLION.
interesting, now I'm really beginning to question Google's ranking system.
