Before handing over the money, what should I do?

I'm in the process of purchasing a 5 figures domain, but the problem is i don't have a clue whether the domain is blacklisted in either search engine or AdSense. What should i do before paying him?

1) Should i ask him to point the domain to my nameserver and let me check whether i can put AdSense on it?

2) Currently the domain is a parked page. I've searched in the Google using the domain itself "xxxx.com" but it isn't indexed. How do i know whether the domain is banned by search engine?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Kahsoon, I think the best way is to ask the owner.

First off I hope you are using an escrow service for the exchange of that kind of money. Even if the domain is blacklisted on google you can file a reinclusion request and as long as the domain is cleaned up and a valid site running on it if this were the case. If you explained that you are the new owner and assure them that you will play nice I am sure they would reunclude you.

Where can i find the page to file the re inclusion request? Is it possible to check whether the domain is blacklisted before buying it? I don't think asking the owner gonna help because he might say otherwise.

Before paying him, is it a normal practice to ask the domain owner to point the nameserver to my server and allow me to check the domain by putting up pages?

That should get you started to find out how to do a reinclusion request ;)
Also if the domain was previously used type the domain as following in the Google search bar: http://www.domain.com

If nothing shows up at all, no result pages the domain could be banned.
Use this tool as well to see what turns up.

Also Adsense is not a problem at all, if the previous owner was banned from the AS program you would use the domain for your own account. Just give an indication of this to the Adsense support team.

So do you mean i should buy the domain first, then put up a page, if the site didn't get indexed then only i do the reinclusion request?

By the way normally will a parked domain get indexed? I see a lot of parked domains not in search engine.

You can only do a reinclusion request for a domain you own :) So yeah, you would first need to buy it and develop it.

Really, don't worry about the domain being banned, this can be straightened out afterwards when you are the new owner ;)

I have actually encountered parked domains in the search results and with solutions like 1Plus this possibility is only getting bigger.

Use Escrow, and have a contract if you want assurance on these issues.

I agree with Damion, don't worry about the Google ads until you get the name.

Once you've aquired the name, contact Google and check to see if it's blacklisted. If it is, they will help you straighten things out. Be sure to contact them first, don't just put your publisher info on the new site and see if the ads appear, that might get your account suspended if the name was previously blacklisted.

$xx,xxx and you're asking these questions here?

Don't do it - you're biting off more than you can chew.

Just being honest - if you want to PM me the name to see if it changes my mind, great, but...
