There seems to be some discussion about bumps, I think this should be totally defined for all to see here in the .tv section where there is a lot of activity lately.

A bump is when there is no activity, your thread is empty, no one interested and you reply to yourself. Replying to a question or organizing bids is not a bump, Again IMO and anyone who understands forum sales threads.

Someone made reference when I modded here. When I modded an auction where the person was an active bidder, who then asked a question before their next bid, that was fine and never deleted.

what do you know about it Ray, I mean you were only the mod here for what seems like decades.... And decades ago...

Open to suggestions and if needed change :)

This is how I see it at this point..

bumps are ..no brainer bumping up the threads..

Now if a member asks a questions this can be seen as helping a bump or .....a legit question so - it is sometimes at a mods discretion (yes we do have that)

You could argue that it's in the interest of a sales thread to update more then once a day if there are many names but I have seen this get out of control with MANY updates per day.

At the end of the day the ADMIN make the rules and we just follow them and ask you to follow them.. There is a button you can click to report if you see abuse...Also there is a link in Namepros suggestions should you wish to put to admin a change of rules..

Rules at this time are ONE bump per day and yes updates do count as bumps :)

Michelle appreciate you taking the time, if that's how its seen then I understand where you are coming from. I will say the question I asked was not because it was to help Jimbo but I had already bid over $1400. It was a legit question.

NamePros as a Social Network is absolutely Incredible!
Making Friends, Networking, Learning, Sharing, etc.

The World of Domaining needs this place and I am a HUGE Fan!

Now,
Using this place as a Business, It seems to be an entirely different story.

We all use this place as a way to make Money - That is awesome, and I honestly hope that everyone here has found a way to make themseves some money.

As for the rules, the only thing that upsets me is we need to be fair across the board. No different rules for different members, and I guess that we need to be entirely transparent with the identical rules for each of us here.

Auction thread...
Someone asks if they can offer a Buy It Now price.
This should be acceptable...or not.

Auction thread...
someone asks a question about traffic.
This should be acceptable...or not.

Auction thread...
How about if you have 10 names that are all on auction with multiple bids from multiple members? It s almost impossible to get on here 24 hours from now and update the thread. What if you updte it 12 hours later. This should be acceptable...or not

Either way, when you are talking about ways in which we all can earn a little income, we should have the same rules. thats it.

Maybe we could be able to pay NamePros for Bumps???
as long as we have bids, and not a desolate thread ya know?

All I know is I believe we should all be able to have a little lee-way in our threads and hopefully not be accused of abusing the system.

Clear-cut rules that are the same for everyone is needed.

Thanks and I hope I haven't lost any friends over this but like Ray said it really should be addressed.

Vito

I am all for helping where I can .. I do NOT like giving out points and warnings.. Jeez we are blooming adults and you do not need people like me to tell you what you can and cant do. :)

ALL I am trying to do is HELP keep a site I love .. alittle cleaner..

I am a Full time nurse. I have just taken on a 2 year degree in advance nursing. I do night school on tuesdays for sign language. I have a family ..

I am VERY busy..

believe me I do not sit here hitting the refresh button looking to get someone into trouble..

I have to say even my selling has declined since helping here :( .. What you get for trying to help ..
so as you can see I am not gaining much.

But..

YOU can help also... Yes you lot reading...

Some (not many) of you try and push it alittle .. see how far you can go /.

Please don't . :)

At the end of the day.. I am here to help you... I will do anything I can to help if I can .. All I ask is you .. help too..

Thanks .. means alot :loveyou:

Modding is often a thankless task.. I am sure most would moan without it if the forum became a mess..... but not many understand the many hours put in to try to help keep it running...

We do try and do the best.. not everything is set in stone.. if something is not working.. make a post in Namepros suggestions.. they dont bite unless you pay them

Someone asking for a buy it now is legit and not a bump in anyway IMO.

The following are what I think - for what it's worth.

Auction should clearly define the rules of the auction. END OF DISCUSSION.

It should contain a PAY time (i.e. 3 business days from winning BID, not immediately - I don't have access to Internet at work, or walk around with my credit card)

It should contain a BIN or there is none.
It should contain START Bid and Minimum Increment (+1 allowed)
It should contain a RESERVE or there is none.

There should be an END TIME for ALL names (even Zero Bids - i.e. No Bids
for 48 hrs ends at No Sale)

If no Traffic is stated then there is NO traffic stated.

No reserve the right to send to Sedo ONCE bidding has started.

Must be exclusive to NP. That is - Don't sell it through Domainstore, Sedo, or Private if it has been listed.

Right to "remove" names? That's BS.
Right to "add" BIN? That's BS.
Right to "add" Names? That's BS
Right to change "end time" ? That's BS (I do it because I have ADD)

Bids should be clear:

"$1500" is good
"Minimum increment more than the last guy" shouldn't count (in part for their own protection - they may have missed a huge bid in between - some auctions saw large increases).

Generally people have been pretty decent about the auctions and I don't have many complaints but then I don't really participate.

The only thing that I don't like is that there is NO ZERO NADA transparency from the Mods. Who deleted posts? Why? Who got points? Who didn't? The .TV listed mods don't seem to have ever done anything but I've had action taken by mods not listed for the forum.

I can't figure out who - if anyone - is in charge at all (Except ~mm~ when she dings me does send me a polite note).

It's like the Wild West AFAIAC but WCWIT.

//This is a comment on the NP System, not individual Mods who I DO think try.

BUMP :)

First of all want to tell that when I'm doing something wrong, Michelle is very friendly in her PMs and I like the way she is sorting the things.

To the topic:

I think when somebody is asking in the thread about the traffic, BIN, etc. the seller could PM the person who is asking, so there no need to make a post in the thread.
When we are talking about such big auctions like James's or Vito's, I think if the seller making his post with update after someone's bid, it couldn't be bump, because even without that post, the thread is bumped by the bidder. I hope you understand what I mean :)

Sure it's my opinion only :)

DU why would there be bs about pulling a name that has no bid ?
What is WCWIT?

There is a difference from auction ENDING with no bid and being prematurely pulled. I think if a name is IN auction then it's IN.

If you get external offer before the end and it's at zero you can't pull it? Send them to the auction on NP - you can't "remove it" and then sell outside.

It's redundant with the "exclusivity" clause.

WCWIT. Its what you say when you would normally say IMHO but you're not really invested in the subject. Who Cares What I think - I've been writing it a lot recently. A nice way of saying what I really think which is WGAFWIT.

I am currently working all over the place and my schedule is the same. I generally don't have access to the internet on a regular basis whilst working so I have tried to update once per day, especially to tidy up my own auction thread and to let people know where bidding stands rather than having to go through the whole thread.

Problem is, because the update has been within a 24hr period I have been warned that this is a violation of the rules. This rule is fine for those who can be at their PC 24/7 to do their updates, but who is?

I think this rule should be 1 update/bump, call it what you like, each calendar day. This would make more sense IMO.
