Hello I had contacted an enduser regarding a domain I'm interested in purchasing.

1st day:
We texted eachother. The owner said he would his wife ,who actually owns it.

2nd day: I texted him again and he replies saying that they actually no longer need the domain themselves and when they "disconnect" all the emails from the domain(they're using the domain for email purposes for several services) they would let me have it.This may take upto a week or 10 days.I asked him what's the price? He says he has no idea so replied if low xxx $ would be okay?He said he'll ask his wife and let me know probably tomorrow. He also gives me his email and I gave him mine.

We still have some fun chat etc.He does have a great sense of humour

3rd day and 4th day(Saturday Sunday): texted him and tried to call , no response.

7th day: I sent him an email to his main email and also his wife's , no response.

9th day: I checked the email and it showed up as being opened in the 7th day.

So what should I do now?I also have his linkedin profile which is active as well as a blog.

Maybe he doesn't want to sell the domain but I did mention in my email that I can increase my offer but in case they don't want to sell then let me know.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If they want to sell they will get back to you, if not they won't. Not much more you can do but they're probably going wow why does this person want our domain so bad?

May be They are playing the mind game by not replying, Email them after 1 day saying that you found another domain & going to buy it as you did not replied. Thanks for the communication. Good luck for your sale.

I hate that people do things like this ....backwards! Instead of wasting time just put it straight and say it's not for sale, rather then leave people hanging on tenterhooks.

They may be domainers too.
They may thinking of you as the enduser who buys for bigbucks because they have already sensed that you want it.
You are the enduser who we domainers always dream about. ;)

From what I see, I feel like you could've chilled out a bit.

They said it could take 7-10 days. You contacted them on the 3rd, 7th, and 9th days.

Why not just have waited til the 11th, or even 12th, day?

Constant contact can be overwhelming. It also makes you lose control over the situation. Now, they feel like they have something you need (which you might, but they don't need to know that, right?). They could be reading about the sale of "Insurance.com" as we speak, and planning their second honeymoon...:ahhh::ahhh:. lol.

At this point, I say you let them know that you're reachable and that your offer stands. If you've already done that, then just ceasefire. Come back to it with a clear mind.

Cheers! :)

You guys have a great chemistry which is evident from your description. I think he likes you and is playing hard to get...

I think you shouldn't have come across as over eager, maybe they didn't realize that they were sitting on a valuable domain. Now that you appeared very keen on buying the domain from them they could have started doing some of their own research and maybe have realized that the domain is actually worth a decent amount. (I'm assuming the domain is worth a good amount here and that's why you made them a offer)

Yes it is plus they have been the only owners since 1996.He did ask what I'm going to do with the domain and I replied him saying that I'm a domain specialist and web developer etc which is all true.He said he had no problem with that and would let me have it .

Nope that's not the case , they work in a company something like engineer and IT.They never mentioned a price in the first place and were eager to sell (without discussing the price).

i think you contacted them too many times as they told you they need around 10 days..
As you already could awake the sleeping dog... i would try to check on the whois/linkedin or other way you have to get a phone number and reach them there.

As some one mentioned earlier.. you should have waited 7/8 Days before mailing/texting again.. Constantly Nagging them either made them angry or gave them a clue to the Value of the domain.. so they may be playing the wait and see game.. So If you badly wanted it you could make a higher offer.. or Just move on find another one.. Best Wishes..

My thoughts exactly. I wanted to say same thing when I first came on the thread but other engagements drew my attention.
