Not impressed with "Great Domains"

I have submitted on a few occasions in the past couple months domain names for listing approval at greatdomains.com Their supposed confirmation email is never sent to me. I emailed them directly and they asked for me to provide my domain information within an email for their review and they'd respond asap via email with my anwser. Still, no emails. Just tried again this morning with another domain name and still no email.

While it's not the end of the world, it does get under my skin. You s*** GreatDomains :imho: :td:

Hi...Not need really feel unhappy with them, they have their own methodology to select great goods and make their great shop better...

I have one name listed there , even I feel zilla.tv better than that one , but they will not allow to exchange them..

so, who knows? if there is great domain staff in the forum, may be he/she can help

Well, they sent me another email saying aol blocks their emails? But.......I sent them another address before and still heard nothing. Oh well, not the end of the world like I said just felt the need for a small rant I guess LOL, Just stinks!

great domains

I have never had a name listed at Great Domains, though I did submit a few a while ago. I had the same problem - they said sometimes their reply email gets blocked.

There was no sign of it in my spam box so I tried again using an email address through a different provider and that solved it - I got their email straight away each time.

Hmmmm...here's a little story...I submitted 5 names a few weeks ago. I received the confirmations and then a few days later the rejections on 4 of them.

One was missing...I forgot about it assuming it had gone into my spam box. Lo and behold today I received an email that they had accepted the "missing" name. So you never know...they must get tons of submissions and it takes time to review them.

Forget about it. No big deal. I have had 25 or so domains listed in the past, still have a couple listed. I HAVE NEVER EVEN RECEIVED AN OFFER ON ONE DOMAIN, LET ALONE SOLD ONE.

Yes, it was thrilling to have that first domain listed, and exciting when all the rest were accepted. However, I think it was because I really thought I would sell one for $x,xxx or maybe even $xx,xxx!!!

Now I realize that would be a miracle if that ever happened. You would be lucky to sell any domain listed on www.GreatDomains.com for even 1/20 of the price on NamePros.

Keep trying if you want one listed. Try your crappy ones, maybe they will accept them!!! :hi:

I've had names accepted by them. Never bothered to get them listed though because they almost NEVER sell names because they overprice almost all of what they accept in.

Just out of curiousity, how many of you/we have actually *sold* a domain via GD? I mean, you specifically, not a friend-of-a-friend kinda thing, lol. If you have, care to share the experience?

How greatdomain survive then? if they never sell any domain? is it a very small personal company? I don't think so.

I remember I saw several time they do help the DN owner sold great domains in very good price, but the key is the name must be great, some time they choose the name which make me very confuse, but I have to respect them, I believe they have some unique methodology to build their portfolio.

They do sell a name once in a while, and as you said, they make DNJournal.com . I think your name would have to be an extremely good one, or one you paid $x,xxx+ for. If that is the case, you probably could have sold it at other places, like Sedo.com, or Afternic.com. What I am trying to say is the domain name probably would have sold itself, and not because GreatDomains promoted it.

Yea Frank, I've got a couple there too. Nothing!!! But I do remember the day they accepted ClassicFilms.tv and listed it for $35,000. Man I almost cried. I thought I had won the lottery. :hehe:

GreatDomains is owned by VeriSign Inc. who also happen to own the sellers rights to .TV which is why their listings are full of dot tv names now.
At one point GreatDomains was the place to have your name listed. They only accepted one word, quality names in top extentions.
After the .TV buyout they started accepting lesser quality names in just about any extention.
So the bragging rights aren't what they used to be.

But still..... they are GreatDomains.com... and btw, I have a couple of names listed there.

either you wait, or you try aggressively to sell it.

Verisign is also the registry for .cc that's why they accept these TLDs.
