I see a lot of newbies come on here and post their handregs for sale with retail prices, and I want to save you time and disappointment. This is an investor forum, and users here are other domainers looking for deals. You will be lucky to sell anything for $50 let alone $5000.

It is a common mistake, and if you take the time to learn about the domain industry you will find that Namepros and other wholesale marketplaces are where you find the deals. The formula for success is quite simple: Acquire, List for Sale, Wait.

If you are looking for a quick sale then you will only get reseller value which is hardly anything.

You might as well put your money into stonks or crypto if that is your plan.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I agree with. I often see sale posts in np marketplace with sale price tag more than $1000 for a quite normal domain that could cost about $50 as reseller.

But, what if GoDaddy appraisal says it is worth $5,000?

In all seriousness, unrealistic expectations are a problem for most new domain investors. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

$5000? Those are rookie numbers. We've got guys with freshly registered made up brandables asking $350,000.

There should be a hall of fame for these types of posts. I'm sure most of us would be in it too.

Great advice! Namepros is for wholesale deals, not retail prices. Learn the market, be patient, and focus on long-term gains.

these buyers (at least the requesters) are not resellers or investors, but poverty and parasites

It’s two sides of the same coin.

There are people with style and there are people without style. I meant that np-requestors usually belong to the latter.

Hi

getting a deal, often depends on the buyer's perspective

giving a deal, depends on the seller's perspective

and then there's the actual domain name in question.

additionally, one has to be able to see a deal, when it's presented or available.

if you're a "today's market value" buyer, then you might not see the future value, which would have been a deal in retrospect... if you had purchased at offered price then.

for example, buying a 4L.com for $700 two years ago, that now gets offers in 4 figure range, was a deal.
it would be the same if one paid $1800 for the 4L.com today and holding for two years to get offers for twice as much.
in retrospect for that buyer, it would be considered a deal.

so, who's ready to make a deal, give a deal or get a deal?

imo...

Agreed. But newbies won't be reading this post and will continue to try to sell at retail here. These same people tag their crappy name on every X post regardless of whether it's related or not.

Those "Post your best name for sale" x threads are the best :xf.laugh:

No surprise in that. Domain forums are for domain investors to share advice, experiences, perform trades, and socialize. Of course, thousands of domain sales have taken place on NamePros but don't expect retail prices. That being said, when leveraged properly, NamePros has strong promotional capabilities - if you're looking for Google exposure.

True. I did it when starting and even now i laugh at myself when i think about the sale posts with huge Bin prices I had created in a domain sales group (fb) and the responses i got for that.

Usually under someone repeatedly posting, "what's the best name you registered this week?", followed by an echo chamber round of applause for KrustyQqrriptohKoinzz.horse

Ehh yeah, I haven't done a hand reg in the last 3 years I think. Drops are only worth catching and reselling.
