Non-paying bidders on Bido

Is anyone else having problems with non-paying bidders on Bido?

I recently sold my third domain there and all sales have been extremely cumbersome and partly unsuccessful due to tardy or non-existent payment and transfer.

1. Wrt the first domain the buyer did not pay until after more than a week had passed and then waited so long to accept the push that I had to renew it. All in all the transaction took about a month and both Bido and I sent countless messages to him.

2. Wrt the second domain the transaction was eventually cancelled because the buyer did not pay or communicate at all. I asked Bido about the consequences for the buyer and this was the response I got:

"Hello,
Thank you for contacting support on that matter.

When buyer on Bido do not submit payment within 10 days, transactions get canceled. Such cases are rare on Bido.

We do not disclose contact details of members, but if a member does not pay 2 times they get banned.

You may schedule a re-auction for this domain at any time of your preference."

In other words, non-payment has absolutely no consequences for the buyer. Bido will neither cancel their account nor give me the opportunity to contact them.

I think this constitutes lousy seller protection and ultimately attracts less than serious buyers. What do you think?

3. Last week I sold my third domain and - surprise, surprise - the buyer has not paid yet. I have now reached the point where I am close to thinking: 'Right, sold a domain on Bido? Ok, that means I'll be prevented from marketing the domain anywhere else for the next two weeks. Great.'

Anyone else having similar experiences?

Sounds like you have bad luck, I sold 2 names this week and both were really easy transactions. Maybe they could do more to protect sellers.

That really sucks that it's happened to you multiple times now. I've experienced the same thing with BIN's on Sedo in the past as well. I think it's just part of the game and it happens to everyone.

It might just be a stroke of bad luck and hopefully the next few that you sell will go through smoothly.

Third transaction down the drain

Thanks, samjones and FPForum.

Just noticed that the third transaction has now been cancelled by Bido. They don't even send an email when it happens.

I'm really disappointed that Bido do not implement any sanctions whatsoever towards NPBs. At the very least their account should be deleted.

Bido will soon be rumoured to be a place where a bid is not really binding, unlike e.g. eBay, which will just attract tonnes of time-wasters.

edit: problems solved.
payment received and the other case ebay credited my fees.
Hmm...seams like ebay is slowly but surely realising that the behaviour towards sellers isn't good for the image.

Yes I had 5 total Which represents about 20% of my total sales at Bido going sour ,Pain in the A** .. What you gonna do . I was also surprised when it first happened $400 winning bid and I did not get an option to sell to lower bidders.

Bido should be a little stricter , But it seems to happen at all the Auctions.

Bido needs to work on this. I wonder what percent of the auctions there have a buyer. The ammount of auctions that I have had there were people "voted" compared to ones with a buyer is low :( And no feedback system. You could then block people with bad feedback from bidding ,in theory.
Ebay is bad too ,a few years ago I gave neutral feedback and the guy wrote all kinds of !"ยง$$ยง"$! on my feedback. It took a month or so for ebay to take it down.

Unbelievable. Why did they not let you sell to the lower bidders? Perhaps it has to do with the fact that they allow buyers 1 - 2 weeks to pay?

On eBay it's max four days to pay. Then the buyer gets a strike (if you do what you are supposed to do and report them). Buyers with two strikes may - and should - be blocked by all sellers.

A mutual feedback system like here on Namepros could also be efficient to weed out the time wasters. Seems to work well here, doesn't it?

I have also lined up domains on Bido and they are getting votes too, if this thing happens to my domains then I have to look for other avenues...

I used to place names on Bido and sold a handful of low price names, but never had a non-paying bidder. I have not used it in a while.

I know this is quite an old thread but the same happened to me on Bido over the past couple of months, having said that - I have sold 16 domains there in the past couple of months as well.

I spoke to the team at Bido about this issue - and they have created a function now where you can ban non payers (Ones that have won and not paid for your own auctions) from your auctions which I think is a great feature!

The best way of dealing with non paying buyers is block them and forget about them :D
