Domain never my main businesses even I have started owning domains in 90's. I did nothing for all the 4,000 domains until I have parked with afternic and sedo.com. Parking with sedo.com was extremely good with great monetizing clicks revenue. Unfortunately, the parking revenue dropped drastically since three years ago with monthly domain sales and auction.
After the personal the data restriction and privacy recently, I have never had any sales with sedo.com for the past three months, no sure if that's the affect of the Personal Data Protection Act ? I think I need to do something for all my remaining 360+ domains....
Namepros.com have been quite good since I joined a year ago, but never had a chance to explore to the fullest. I have, thru namelpros.com , met two broker who also helped to sell a few of my domains.
I have started to use undeveloped.com recommended by a friend and have since started to park at the site, no sales so far.

Sedo is always my first choice platform to selling domain name since 2006 but I think it's time to rethink about it.

Reason 1 : Serious protential buyers unable to view sedo parking page
Reason 2: Your domain may not be found from Sedo Search (even with SedoMLS activiated) while you have to pay them 10-20% commission fee on a successful sale.

I had a domain parked with sedo but I never received an offer for it.

I recently received an offer for that domain from domainagents.com and it made me believed that the potential buyer had no way to view the parking page and therefore the buyer decided to spent $25 USD on domainagents to make an offer on my domain.

I think the corporation buyers had adblocker and firewall installed and they had no way to access Sedo parking page.

By the way, make sure that your domain is appeared on sedo search. If you cannot find your domain from sedo search. it's better to swap to Godaddy / Afternic platform. In my experience, I have some domains had activiated SedoMLS and the domains still cannot be found from Sedo search.

One of the best parts about Sedo's market, their brokers, their brokers get a lot of enquires from end users to find them their name for their business, Sedo's brokers are very-very good at what they do, In my experiences with Sedo, when i am contacted, it is most usually by a Sedo broker on behalf of an end user, the sale has always been smooth and error free. I don't ever park any with Sedo though. just list them.

Thanks for this post.

Another reason: Sedo's 0-redirect parking page frequently leads to malware infested pages which cause a big red warning flag to be thrown up by the popular browsers and also associates the domain with malware which means they might also incur a penalty

My offers and sales are down boy over 50% at SEDO this year. SEDO parking pages don't work for people using ad-blockers. If someone makes it to the sales page, there are a dozen+ links to distract them.

Conversely, I've had more sales through Afternic and Godaddy.

your signature is the cheesiest and funniest ever....I'm laughing out loud at 6am by myself and my dogs looking at me like wtf?

holy sh*t.....i didn't know about this but wouldn't this be bad for their company and something they would identify and fix immediately? I always thought they had deep pockets and that problem seems serious to me.

It's incredible Sedo does such a poor job where you don't even see your domains in their own search! Surprising anyone would stay with Sedo or start using Sedo in view of that and other negatives I heard about here for a long time?

The only reason we (domainers) are willing to pay 10-20% comission to sedo is because we believed sedo will bring more leads to our domains and generate more sales.

Nonono, this not the case if your have some premium keywords domain with a extension of .ws .cc .tv .asia.

Do you knew that the keyword .ws is no longer appeared on sedo search since 2011.

Want a proof?

Let's take a look what happened when .ws domains is affected by Sedo search result' manipulation back in 2011. Look at the stats, they completely destroyed the sales. They 'murdered' a domain extension.:dead:

.cc .tv and .asia are another victims affected by Sedo search result' manipulation in the last two years.

Sedo had a External Domain Transfer service and it only charge 3% fee. But it required the domains are not listed in sedo marketplace.

I started to remove all of the affected domain from sedo and using landing page to direct communicate with potential buyers. I will use Sedo's External Domain Transfer service or escrow.com to close the deal when a deal is confirmed.

What do you think it is? Has something changed about their search function? Trends?

LOL
But these TLDs are already dead or struggling, it's not because of Sedo. Sedo have lots of shortcomings, but you can't blame them for the lack of consumer demand.

I don't know how they are turning their search engine, but they somehow have to come up with a way to return search results that are relevant. Don't think there are many users who want to see .asia or .ws suggestions.

I mean, would you still use Google if they returned low-quality websites all the time.

My experience is that occasionally, the search results can vary considerably. For instance, on several occasions in searching for a popular product keyword I have listed, I could not easily find the domain in the results. Normally (for many yrs.), that domain has been very close to the top of the results (as it should be, imo). The search term is an exact match for the domain and I had the correct tld chosen. As for search criteria, you can't get any more relevant than that. However, the results were far from relevant.

For what it's worth the results are back to "normal" for the last few months.

I emailed SEDO and asked if they will update to SSL and fix the landing pages to work with ad-blockers. A redirect or link to the sales offer.

parked sedo domains = malware infested pages
They asked for screen shots because they haven't had any issues with ad blockers. Dumb.

no comment pure dumb

sedo feels so good about their business and they think that they have full control of what they Do, but really their traffic is too low, and have nothing new to show in this business
