News.TV - gone again? regged? time will tell.

Anyone else notice that News.TV is no longer available? :)

Perhaps a fluke? or someone mis-regged? or perhaps a big announcement is looming?

time will tell.

$500K premium renewal.

Personally, no reason not to believe you. I say give it 10 days and let people see what happens.
If the dns changes still haven't taken place, then maybe question it, but I can't see any reason to doubt anyone here.

Unless of course they talk highly of pygmies.

Confirmed today. News.TV was sold.

Congrats to the new owners, and hopefully the .TV awareness will trickle down to all of us.

Also confirmed, 2 other major .TVs were bought that were on my want list. Really wish I had bought them and now I regret not pulling the trigger sooner. It really makes me want to re-prioritize the premiums on my "want list"... so if you've got your eye on .TV premium, don't make the same mistake I did by waiting too long. Damn. Damn. Damn.

For those that have problems with the fee structure of the premiums, and constantly complain that it is hurting the extension, I do not agree. End-users will buy .TV premiums and they obviously are comfortable with paying the renewal prices that many of us complain about.

I have about 100+ premiums and I truly regret not buying the main premium I had my eye on. Damn. :( I won't make the same mistake again.

Good luck to everyone.

Actually this was confirmed early in the week.

Yes its a huge win for us.

I tried informing the namepros members of this since yesterday but kept on getting asked and how name didn't get sold. Whichever!

Now we need the business.tv sold lol.

You own a 100 pre names, that's amazing! Would hate to pay your yearly fees each year though lol. Your sitting on gold in 5 years

J

Want to say this

Thanks in a few people that believed me in this

I think pre domains is a turn off but high end names will sale.

We got a dedicated forum thread on .tv not being in high end auctions.

We shall see.

I just hope news.tv was bought by CBS or CNN.

For jokes it would be funny if frank bought this

All kidding aside I want a corp to buy this and a non high end rich domainer. I was this thing on tv everyday, millions of people watching nightly news and seeing news.tv and get the .tv awareness out. We got a winner folks and everyone benefits by this, we should see more type in traffic and list goes on

I want the wallstreet journal buy business.tv or a brokerage firm like a Goldman sachs.

Sorry Equity for making a duplicated thread...

I will be more careful next time.

This is great news!!

I think this really changes landscape for premiums being purchased. I think this is what verisign and DM have been waiting for, the corporate sector to start buying.. if this is a corporation this is a major plus.

So save us the trouble of scrolling through the Enom premiums list to figure out which two you are referring to!

LOL

What no-one has touched on here is how much it was sold for and what the annual renewal fee is. It could have been done as a deal tied up with all sorts of sweeteners. For all we know the purchase price and annual renewal fee could be a smidgen of the listed price. We may never know given the nature of corporate wheelings and dealings.

That's exactly right, doubtful anyone paid $500,000 and you would doubt the buyer will disclose any discount.

Hmmm... it is very possible that the buyer paid LIST price. But I am sure that the buyer received a discount on renewals. In fact, there is no doubt in my mind based on discussions I have had with DM. One of the other names I'm considering is quite expensive and they are willing to make a deal... but MONEY TALKS. You've got to bring lots of money to the table in order to get your renewals knocked down, I'm talking about more than 2 yrs upfront. AFAIK, I am only able to get my renewal for 10% of "list price" if I put down 5-10 yrs upfront. OUCH. and that's with tough negotiating.

I contacted the .com owner of the same domain and their price is firm at $3.5M - so 5-6 figures a year for a .TV that I can develop is worth it in the end. So when it comes down to News.TV, someone had to bring substantial money to the table for VERISIGN to budge on renewals... that is one of their main babies AKA cash cows... and VRSn has really made it hard to negotiate a substantial renewal discount... believe me... I've tried.

Time will tell.

Maybe the buyer used the recent discount, which I also used for three premiums, by paying two years in front for the original price (2 times $500,000) for a 50% discount ($250,000 renewal) after that.

If the buyer used this discount the whois would show regged for two years (till 2009) after the whois is updated.

Did the record get updated yet? It says:

Updated Date: 03-jul-2007
Creation Date: 01-may-2000
Expiration Date: 18-jan-2038

hmm...

either way weather they received a discount or not its still great news. Who cares if they received the discount-If I was in that league I surly would want the 50 percent discount.

The point is this. Its News.tv-a major player bought it and hope its a corporation. Who cares if they they received the 50 percent discount. Thats still 250k a year. Or even a 70 percent discount.

I love how we get side tracked on great news for us and were talking about discount fees, assumptions, etc etc . (Trust me I do this as well)

Lets all enjoy the moment-see what happens and keep fingers crossed that its a cnn or cbs that bought this and they plaster the shit of news.tv on news and etc.

No one is getting sidetracked people want to know what kind of deal was given on a purchase. Many high profile .tv have been registered because the idiots at Verisign put it at $500,000 means nothing to me. I do not find this to be good or bad news it hopefully will be good for the person who regged it. Great names in .tv have been regged over the last few years MEN and WOMEN .tv both with $100,000 annual, Sports.tv regged with a $200,000 annual fee, Concert.tv with $10,000 KIDS.tv was once $100,000 lowered to $10,000 for the HRTS auction. Free.tv been regged for almost 8 years. Names being regged does not mean portfolios of average quality go up in value, its something to talk about for a day then people go back to doing whatever they were doing before. People will still look for their news at CNN BBC FOX MSNBC GOOGLE and many other nationally and internationally known websites. If News.tv had a reg fee of $30,000 would there be as much hoopla ? IMO no but because the clueless wonders priced it at $500,000 its considered a big deal and if there was a discount like only $50,000 or $100,000 it is not as big a hype. .tv has its brand in peoples face every day, TNT.tv Five.tv (UK) 4kids.tv Gamer.tv IFL.tv (MMA on mynetwork) CN8.tv COMCAST NETWORK AGAIN IMO

ok

I just hope its a corp that bought this gem and help us all out with the .tv equity. Dont take things personally domainers-but we need a big boy to buy this vs a flipper or a domainer. We need this baby on tv and on nightly news.

Tnt can only do so much and equitys other names he mentioned.

Where is this snoop fellow here, LOL..

No Jeff if someone has got big marketing dollars to promote it cool, but don't let it give you a false sense of success like now we got this things can only go up. You have some good names that once you develop you will be able to control your own destiny.

Equity,

I know what your saying but I just hope a Corporation has news.tv

Imagine watching CBS evening news or CNN news this evening and its being heavily promoted by them.

The powers of the tv, viewers watching nightly news on there tv sets.

I want a corp to have bought this and to get the .tv extension out vs a small business or a domainer right now. I just think we need someone big to come in and be a better route to take for the .tv name.

If a domainer bought this or a small business-congrates on a top notch name!

I just want 20 to 40 million people watching nightly news and to get .tv out Equity

Thats my point. I would be somewhat disappointed if a corp didnt buy this. I am thinking this for the long haul and for .tv awareness out.

Hope this makes better sense.

I'll believe the registration of News.tv when I'll see a change in the Whois.

I agree with Argos and will add that until its developed and we can evaluate the impact of the site, then the sale of news.tv is nothing more than just another high-end premium name sold.

While the news related to the sale of news.tv may be good for the .tv extension, many of you could be spending your valuable time developing your domains instead of speculating on whether the name has been sold or not.

Easy there tiger - whats wrong with speculating - or developing or one and the other....??....

I am also suspicious of this sale, and if it is genuine, then it does not look like a developer, a developer does not put THIS NAME IS FOR SALE on its parked page, unless its a lame attempt at throwing us off track......
