Navigated to news.tv today just to take a peek. Sadly, I saw a parking page with this in the footer

This domain is for sale - To learn more about how to purchase this domain, contact us here

Who got confirmation from Demand Media that this name sold? :(

I guess the number one name is back for sale.

It seems the name didn't sell previously.

I have always postulated that it was pulled to drive interest and speculation.

"Oh if News.tv is sold, I should get xxxxxxx.tv and xxxxxx.tv right away."

My thought has always been that it was a ploy to push premiums. Naturally, how could I possibly think that about such an upstanding pair of companies as this.

Sigh, guess I will just go on over to my 10,000 views channel me site and talk to my many guests.

"Has been sold" and "No longer available" are two different things.

I've seen domains go into some sort of "holding tank" at enom/verisign
for who knows what reason. Maybe just some sort of marketing ploy
by enom and/or verisign?

No longer available usually means they are in talks with an interested buyer, and offer to put the name on hold during negotiations.......

It makes sense for DM then to keeep quiet about the ir inability to close the deal and thus just remain hush hush

It makes sense, but it also makes them look......slightly non-negotiable to deal with as well.

If they were really on their toes, they would be working with a large news organization to give it to them for development and exposure.

Of course, they probably would require it to be on the me.tv platform, which would kill the deal instantly.

Picture that: News.tv hosted on the me.tv platform. (NO NO NO GET THE IMAGE OUT OF MY HEAD HELP ME HELP ME HELP ME>> >SDFJKLSDFHSDFJKH)

That is absolutely true. Premiums are often "No longer available" but that certainly does not mean sold. A recent example of this was pointed out by Argos with Bibles.tv

What is more perplexing, and I have raised this a number of times, is where does Ahead.tv get its renewal pricing feeds from? Where does the $25,000 for News.tv come from? One day its $500k; the next day the name is no longer on the available names list; and then renewal fee is quoted at $25k on Ahead.tv.

Another very imprtant question - who is AHEAD.TV - i find their site invaluable, as i am sure many here do, but what is their connection if any to either DM and or Verisign?????

ARe they an offshoot of DM, could it be that DM convinced Verisign to have some measure of openess on premium names otherwise the market would just not support a premium policythat could not be validated or are they some totally seperate company that has gone out of its way to do all of us a favor out of the goodness of their hearts.....

Ahead.tv is Polin, no relation to demand media or verisign, they are an enom reseller. They are also regspace.com

Reg Space looks just like Enom.tv.

Yes it sure does.

Are you saying that it looks like it's taken?

IMHO, it appears to still be taken by a well-known domainer.
I won't say more out of respect for their privacy, but I could also be mistaken.

Time will tell.
