I should be working, keeping my clients, readership and bank happy. Instead, here I am sitting at the PC with the Sedo stats page open, continually checking the parking figures.

Normally I don't bother too much as all the zeros get a bit hard on the eyes after a while. Occasionally there is a "1" or a "2" to break the monotony and on one glorious occasion a name entered double figures, but that's about it. Today however, things are a little different.

I registered a name, added it to Sedo merely to gauge if there was any interest before forwarding it to a specific section of a blog. Well, there was.

OK, it may not seem a great amount but over a period of a few hours, it has been attracting about 3 or 4 per hour. The odd thing is, it is not a word I would have thought would have attracted that amount of attention. The main attraction to me was to get up the noses of a few establishment figures with a cynical but factual domain name leading to relevant articles.

Should I be excited by what is to me, an unaccustomed level of interest in one of my names - or is that the sort of figure that would be considered "normal"? Mind you, I am not sure if there is such a thing as "normal" in this business!

I must admit, I do feel excited at some "progress" even if I don't quite know why people are coming. What I have to decide now is if to go ahead with my original idea of forwarding it, or keep it as it is just so I can see the numbers change. Would forwarding make it more attractive to potential purchasers? Of course they could land on the blog and end up thinking "sarcastic little so-and-so" but I'm used to that anyway.

While I am rambling, what is it about Namepros that is so addictive? I find myself going from auction to auction, forum to forum, just to see what's on offer. I often end up thinking "Oh I like that" and get ready to place a bid or offer without really knowing why I like it, or what I would do with it. The purchases I have made have all been for a reason, but there were a lot more I could have made on impulse - names I would not even have thought of or considered before - just because the were there! On top of that I have discovered the Geek Name Project - by heck that is addictive too.

Ah, the perils of the domaining industry for "newbies" addiction, impulse buying and disgruntled clients and readers. But why worry about them - at 3 clicks an hour I reckon I can see a whole new career path paved in gold laid out before my very eyes:)
