New & Old Domains

I don't get it: an old domain name Vs. a new domain name...how come the old one would probably cost more?

Many people feel that as part of their efforts to combat spam sites Google applies filters that discriminate against new sites. If you can buy a domain that was registered and had a site on it for a while you may be able to bypass those filters. Of course, with anything related to Google, lots of this is speculation.
