The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

    Just received their email,

We are extremely excited to announce the launch of our Domain Marketplace today! We are offering a full-featured marketplace for the buying and selling of domain names with several features for both buyers and sellers. Our commission rate of a flat 7.5% is extremely competitive and there are no minimums or listing fees. You can get started listing your domains for sale via the Domain Manger page and we handle the entire process from listing through payment and payout.

Some highlights of our Domain Marketplace include:

    • Easily sell your domains via an auction or offer-counter system
    • No minimums
    • No listing fee
    • No need to use a third-party for payment processing - all orders handled directly via the NameSilo web site
    • Payout to account funds, Paypal, or check
    • Buyers can pay in Credit/debit card, PayPal, Bitcoin, Skrill, Dwolla, or Wire
We hope you enjoy this new service and let us know what you think! Thanks,
    The NameSilo Team

If they can make transactions easy, safe, and secure, they'll do well. They just need to add a 'buy it now' sale type in addition to auction and 'make offer'.

Most end users know the domain name they want - they don't need all the category browsing that speculators do. Just point them to your sales page and make it easy (and cheap enough) to buy and you'll get a sale.

The one thing I don't see, and it's possible I just haven't found it yet, is a way to list domains that are not registered at Nnamesilo. If that is true, it would be a misstep IMO.

Hi. There is a Buy it Now option, but that is configurable by the Seller. If a Seller does not include a Buy it Now price, then the domain cannot be purchased right away. If the Seller does list a Buy it Now price, then the domain can be purchased immediately. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. We do not currently permit listing domains not registered with us, but this is something that may change in the future.

    @namesilo

Just a quick heads up with some feedback, for sake of ease I just uploaded them all with no reserve set, the lowball offers have started coming in, now when I attempt to add a reserve/min offer it's telling me I can't modify it because there has already been an offer.

Once an offer is countered/rejected the listings should be editable again so we can stop the lowball offers in future. Does this mean I have to cancel and relist everything that has bids/offers?

    Thanks for the info.

One thing I want to clarify - the email says you can pay out by account funds, paypal, and check, but the web site doesn't list checks as an option. Is it? Also, any plans to pay out via ACH transfers in the future?

Thanks for the feedback. It is true that you currently cannot modify sales once a bid or offer has been submitted. I will pass along your feedback as I could see this being changed to allow for modification if all offers have been rejected.

Sorry for the confusion. The options for payout are account funds or PayPal. However, account funds can be retrieved via check so, in the end, sale proceeds can be paid via check after being deposited into account funds. We will see if we can find a better way to make this more clear. Thanks for the feedback.

Now you can sell (only 7,5% commision fee) and buy domains via Namesilo auction platfrom (payments accepted via account funds with funding options including credit/debit card, PayPal, Skrill, Bitcoin, Dwolla or wire transfer
). There are no listing fees. Payouts to Paypal or account funds.

    Extract from Namsilo:

    Selling a domain?
You can offer your domains registered with NameSilo for sale immediately! Simply visit the Domain Manager page in your account and select the domains you would like to offer for sale. A few of the many options made available include:
    • Payouts via either account funds or PayPal are made within 7 days of payment receipt
    • No minimums or listing fees
    • No need to use a third-party for payment processing - all orders handled directly via the NameSilo web site
    • Choose to sell via either an online auction or offer/counter-offer sale
    • Select an end date and time with to-the-minute precision
    • Optionally set a reserve (you can choose whether or not to display your reserve)
    • Optionally set a "buy now" price. When used, buyers have the option to purchase the domain immediately
    • A password can be used to accommodate private sales
    Buying a domain?
Safely buy domains in our marketplace. A few of the many options made available for buyers include:
    • Payments accepted via account funds with funding options including credit/debit card, PayPal, Skrill, Bitcoin, Dwolla or wire transfer
    • Receive domains listed with a "buy now" price immediately!
    • Setup proxy bids for auctions so you can be sure to get the domain at the right price for you.

Thx. That's good to know, there should always be some competition among the different marketplaces. 7.5% fees is great as well. For top domain names, this would be great.

What is not clear is if you can point your external domain names, the ones not with namesilo, to their nameservers like you do with Sedo?

@namesilo, would you like to clarify this please?

@namesilo - Would be great if you could also add the option of selling only at a fixed price (no auction format), and then add some nice looking landing pages for BIN priced domains:xf.smile: I know it's possible to forward the name to this, but it would be nicer to send type-in visitors to a clean (less cluttered) and professional looking landing page, with an obvious obvious "this domain is for sale" and a "Buy It Now" button.

Since I have most of my portfolio with NameSilo, and with the 7,5% commission fee, I'd definitively use your marketplace for selling BIN priced domains (over Sedo or DNS with escrow.com BIN button integration) if you could offer this function and a nice landing page to go with it.

    This is great news!
@namesilo you could really become the "go to" marketplace for domainers if you play your cards right.

I may have missed it - is there DNS / parking service like sedo uses where people going directly to a domain will be redirected to the namesilo sales page?

They need to open it up to domains registered at more than just NameSilo for that to happen, at least in my opinion.

There is another thread about this here and a rep said only NameSilo domains.

There, that's the problem. It's not too hard to just allow ANY domains to be listed.
They could compete with Sedo in due time if they allow external domains to be listed as well.

Or they can draw many more customers to them thanks to this. People who stay with GD mainly do so for the aftermarket and if they are given an alternative they might seriously consider to transfer out given that NameSilo is probably one of the best registrars out there.

Oh sure from that angle if they can get people to transfer, personally I never used them, would probably not transfer to them. Now if the marketplace gets hot then that may change. Marketplaces need traffic and sales velocity. Go Daddy gives me that along with Premium listings showing in the registrar path. I hope NameSilo does well because competition and choice are important.
