I only stumbled on this site after reading that domain hosting
companies that offer a free domain name actually become the
owner of that name you select . Is this true ?

I then read that a majority of ppl here use places like name.com
or namecheap.com to register their domain names , seem like mostly
to sell them later .

I actually am just looking to buy a domain name to create my website.
Do you all still recommend that I use a place like name.com or namecheap to register and then I go hunt for a domain hosting company?

Then I see that some of you like to park your domains and generate a small income from that. I read this in the agreement with name.com and wonder how do you work around this ?
"PARKED DOMAINS. Every time you register a domain name with Name.com, your name will be pointed to our "Future Home of...." page, which acts as a place holder for your domain name's future web page. This page may contain third-party advertisements, links to other products and services offered by Name.com, and interfaces to other web pages, including search engines, among other things. You will not receive notice regarding the additional content located on the Future Home Of page, and such content may be modified at any time. If you would like a preview of such a Future Home Of page, click here. If you have any objection to having your newly registered domain name pointed to a Future Home Of page, please let our Customer Service department know by clicking here.
" .

Last question , about name.com , its as if you can buy a domain name there and use google tools to create a website . How is this different than registering your domain there and having them as hosting ?

First off welcome :)

Lots of questions :hehe:

I would suggest taking time just to read around. This site is awsome and full of all the information you would ever need to make domaining work for you.

Each has their own way and this is what you need to find for yourself.

I personally have never used name.com and I would suggest you look at promo codes before you register names anywhere.

There are many parking places around, again everyone finds the one that suits them.

Pop into chat one day there are many good souls in there willing to help.

Take care

:)
