New commission rates at Sedo..

I recieved this note from a transfer agent at sedo:

Hi Tim.

As of this month, Sedo's policy regarding minimum commissions has changed. For the flat 10% commission on a sale, a domain must now be parked for longer than 1 month and be for sale at a fixed price. In all other instances the commission will be $50.

Why not? The vast majority of all our domains have been parked for at least one month. And chances are that if you're willing to sell your domain for $60, you set its price to a fixed amount (or at least you should have).

Because sales thru the public auctions are not sold at a fixed price and also the names that end at $60 will have a $50 commission, leaving the seller with only $10..

This is definitely very interesting, but I have not heard anything despite having a few sales this week. It also seems a little strange that your transfer agent said "In all other instances the commission will be $50" and did not mention it would be 10% if the domain were more than $500 - seems like that mis-information could come back to bite them in the end.

Hopefully someone from Sedo comes and clarifies this for us all.

Yea I'd also want to know whats going on.. I've replied to the agent requesting more info.

Something's not right about that note he sent you. I just sold two domains at Sedo minutes ago and Sedo only took 10% commission from each of them.

Keep us updated though if he gets back to you.
