Hi all, have quite a few domains with NetworkSolutions.com, all exclusively via Snapnames.com.

For the last few years, the "special" renewal price was $9.59 and I was happy to keep my domains with NetSol at that price.

Today, I tried to renew some domains and the price has been increased to $37.99, which is a basically a 4X increase.

Has anyone else experienced this? I called and spoke to a very cordial domain specialist and they stated that an email was sent out in December about the price change but I searched my email and never got that email.

Anyways, right now I am at a lost about that to do. As a domainer, the renewal price of $37.99 is not possible...and I know it's very cumbersome to transfer domains out of their system.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why use NetSol? Garbage company. Use any other that is millions of times better for less.

Thanks for the comment but I am seeking anyone else that experienced this or is it just isolated to my account. Until I experienced it tonight, I have not heard of any news of this price change.

Usually when I tried to transfer out it would wait until the end and offer me a $10 price to stay.

Still $1.50 more than my main registrars and obviously horrible service.

I am starting to think this new pricing scheme only applies to me. Lol.

I always transfer out of netsol. They are not the best but I like that most snapnames domains go to the same place nowadays. Years ago, they used to spread all over different registrars so that's an improvement. Netsol is geared more towards "corporate" than domainers. It sucks transferring out of there as well but besides that I have had no issues. But if it weren't because my snapnames domains go there, I wouldn't use them because quite frankly its not made for domainers.

Just transfer. It's not only you.

So you've experienced the price increase as well? Transfering...sure...but it's not an easy process with NetSol. To go in and manually request the transfer lock OFF and then to request the AUTH Code...you have to do it one by one. No way to do it for multiple domains. It would take me days to do all that.

So you always transfer out domains acquired via Snapnames? I was happy renewing at $9.59 at NetSol but with the amount of names I have with them now, renewing at $37.99 would bankrupt me.

So far, no one has experienced that price increase? They said they sent out an email and that the price would change after Jan 31st.

My friend, it's no great mystery. Do you really think they chose you alone for this price increase?

Netsol had a renewal rate of $9.59 for YEARS after joining up with Snapnames. That's the price I have been paying for renewals for the last several years. This change is completely unexpected and NEW. I am surprised not one else experienced this.

Since I can't post links...I will quote the press release they put out in 2014 regarding the $9.59 pricing:

This change is not new. From time to time you should follow the latest news regarding your registrar (and registry -extension). You can't count 100% on R email messages.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation friends. I have over 1000 domains with them so it's gonna be a process. I wish they kept the pricing or increased it slightly. But a 4X increase is really gonna just drive domainers away.
BTW, if anyone knows of a way to bulk request the AUTH codes, I would love to hear about it. I can already see it's gonna take at least a week for me to do the whole turn off the transfer lock and request auth code. Carpal Tunnel, here we come.

I have seen the 9.59 rate in the past and used it maybe twice when I was too busy to bother saving $1 by transferring out. But the rate increased a while back imo. I think it went from 9.59 to 12.99 and then it increased again and I guess that it kept going up. The best way to get the auth codes in bulk is to call, hit option 5 on their system.

I think you'll have to script something. Some kind of bot/macro.
But I am wondering what your control panel looks like with so many domains ? Because their CP sucks. I could not give anyone one single reason to stay with NS. I always transfer out names won through Namejet. It's tedious but no registrar makes transfer out easy. An API can help when available.

However, $9.59 is a fair price, they are only making a profit of about $1.5 per domain. But the problem is not pricing. NS is not a safe place for domain names.

Do you want to pull them out all at once ? What I would do is transfer out in small batches, say 20 or 50. Keep the Ctrl key pressed and click on each link to open it a new window (it works for regular hyperlinks but not javascript). Then it's click click click submit.

But regardless of the channel through which those names were acquired, seeing that you have a lot of names with them, they could have offered you a more competitive price schedule. Large accounts can and should negotiate pricing.
PS: I am not sure if is NS or register.com (same kind of registrar to avoid), when you request a transfer out, after a few screens they show a coupon code to renew your domain for $10, so that you reconsider your decision to transfer out. Maybe it's register.com.

Transfer your names to namesilo.com - honestly, it seems silly to keep your domains anywhere else.

Its not new. Standard renewal has been 39 usd for years. You got a discounted price but that does not change their standard price which has been basically the same last 15 years.

Why would you even contemplate keeping your names there? You win the names at auction and transfer out at once.

It's not just you.
Just transfer out to NameSilo for $8.39 or Epik for $8.10 if you mention the namePros promo...
