Domain Transfer Lock Status

Dear Me,

We wanted to confirm with you that Domain Transfer Lock has been turned off for the domain name registrations (nsWebAddress™) listed below:

Account Number: XXXXXXXX

Domains

Turning Domain Transfer Lock off removes an extra layer of protection against an unauthorized transfer of your domain name registration(s).

  • When turned on, Domain Transfer Lock provides protection from "domain hijackers" or others who may illegally attempt to transfer your domain name registration.
  • With Domain Transfer Lock on you can still perform legal name changes and consolidate or move domain names between Network Solutions® accounts.
If you intend to transfer this domain name please call Network Solutions at 1-888-642-9675 to request assistance from a transfer specialist.

Once again, thank you for choosing Network Solutions®. We are committed to providing the best solutions, services, and support to help you succeed online.

Sincerely,

Do you have to call to get the transfer codes now?

Transferring out of Netsol and Register.com is a complete headache. Don't be surprised if they ask for a DNA sample...

Nope, no call needed.. but they did include now 1-2 more steps/emails along the whole transfer process.. did move a domain out from NetSol to GoDaddy the past week and also got this email.. just be patient, in my case it took a total of 6-7 work days for the transfer to complete unfortunately..

WTF!

you don't have to, but i always call to get them right away

when you call, they will offer you a lower renewal rate as enticement not to transfer out.

Good Luck!

I recently transferred a couple of domains out of Network Solutions. I guess one could argue the three-day delay in receiving transfer codes could be a security measure but it was still annoying. I did not have to call Netsol but yes with any domain to be transferred you will need to unlock the domain and provide auth codes.

Different registrar but I have found with ENOM the auth codes never work the first time. You will always have to submit to get new auth codes that work.

I am facing a similar issue with NetSol where they have locked out account for requesting to transfer out LL.net and asking for ID to confirm the ownership of account lol

NetSol Sucks :(

So they will send me the auth codes eventually? Even though they say...

I am using NetSol and have transferred a couple of domains to a friend's company who is providing domain registration and hosting service. I had no issues with NetSol and you can get the transfer code by going to control panel and unlocking your domain transfer. For domains with generic tlds (.com, .net and so on) you don't need a code just remove the lock from your domain. On the other hand for domains that are using cctlds then you are required to remove the lock from your domain and acquire a transfer code.

If you didn't need a transfer code then anyone could steal the domain once the lock is off...

This.. It takes 3 days-ish to get the code and then another 4 days to complete the transfer. 7 days in total to get a domain name out of there...

I assume by Netsol, you are referring to Network Solutions for short?

If so, I transferred over a name I got a few weeks through a Snapnames Pre release. I requested the transfer codes (through email) and did not receive any response or email letting me know it was in process.

So I CALLED them and was pretty surprised with how fast they responded over the phone and helped me, they sent me the authorization code within 15 min to my email.

OK. It looks like I maybe have another day to wait. Thanks.

These are all .coms. I had no opportunity to get the auth codes on line, and I completed the whole process properly, I was/am expecting the authcodes by email, but all I got instead was the email quoted above.

Yes. But most good registrars don't play these NetSol kind of games. You get the authcode immediately without jumping thru hoops and still have to wait for days and days.

Yeah, that's for sure. It seems like they are only trying to make is so hard to transfer that their customers might just say "Screw it" and stay with them.

I was just quoting the person who said that a code wasn't needed for transfers of .com, .net, etc. That is completely wrong. If that was true then people could just go through the whois databases and see which domains were not locked and snatch the domains.

Just to say I got the auth codes in 3 days, even though their email implied I would have to call them. Shady company all round.

Hey @stub , glad you got your auth codes! :)

It is a pain to get the name out of NetworkSolutions - but it is possible. It takes them few days to send the auth code. As soon as 60 days are over, I move it out. Do not wait till last minute to move it out.

I call them to get the codes immediately, and I live in Asia as well. Why don't you use Skype or another such service to call? It saves 3 days.

Or stick it on a smart phone. For a few bucks a month, you can get an dedicated US phone number that goes straight to Skype as well. Nobody has to know you're not in the US. The downside is you get a lot of calls in the middle of the night.
