Hi everyone ! I'm a newbie and I have plenty of things to know ... I have a little question, I want to know what are the things that make a good domain name ?

all I know is that good domain names should not have letters and dashes , they should not be long and should be significant...

But I'm not sure if the age of the domain is important as well as its traffic.

I don't know how I can mesure the traffic of a domain name if the traffic is important ...

Can someone help me plzz ?

Welcome to NP,

I bet you'll get a lot of useful advices from the great domainers here. Few important keys from my view:

- Extension: TLDs, .com is the most valuable, but ccTLDs may work good as well.
- Keyword(s): exact monthly google searches makes the value as well.
- Age: Old domains = more value.
- Read carefully this forum, before register any domains, there is not probably much left to register with a high value, but you never know.
- Read IDN threads to understand what IDN means.
- Have fun.

Age is meaningless other than in the sense that good domains tend to have been registered a long time ago and never dropped because they are good domains. Other than that, age means nothing and doesn't add any value.

If age added value you'd hear people saying "This domain is worth $X, but if only it were five years older it would be worth $X more." But you never hear this, anywhere. We aren't selling wine.

Traffic domains have value, but it has to be a good amount of traffic and you'll do best with a documented earnings history. The geographic location of the traffic is also important. Some traffic is worth more than others.

As a domain that has never been developed, I mostly agree. However, an older domain that was a website can also have existing backlinks or authority, thereby increasing earnings, and therefore value. However, I do believe there is some weight in search engines, even if minor, regarding a domain's age.
