need help - should buyer purchase appraisal?

i recently had an inquiry to a domain i have parked via sedo but have only been talking with the potential buyer via email so far and was told in order for him to make an offer i had to have a manual (human) appraisal done on the domain. Is this something I should buy myself - or should the buyer purchase the appraisal?

here is the link for the services he recommended
http://domainblog.007sites.com/582619.htm

would sedo appraisal not be the best choice?

I'm so glad you asked that question, but the answer is not going to be what you expect:

When a buyer asks YOU to get an appraisal using a service THEY reccomend is is almost certainly a crook that is running a scam. If you pay for the "apprasal" and then tell the "buyer" he will have some reason for NOT buying your domain. Well, he never wanted to buy your domain in the first place, he just wanted you to pay for a (probably uselesll) appraisal.

And if you check the site link you posted, you will find that the scammers site has been deleted by the free web host he was using. :)

Please consider posting all the information, name, email, messages he sent you so others can also be warned about these kinds of scams.

Thanks!

P.S. You should only pay for an appraisal on your domain if you want one. If a buyer want's one, you can offer to pay for 50% of the apprasial if they don't buy your domain, but you then will own the appraisal. This lessens the risk for the buyer, and can get you a cheaper appraisal that may help you to sell the domian.

I guess an appraisal can help change the price of the domain either up or down between buyer and seller, but I don't know how good a tool it is for that. What I'm saying is I don't know that a buyer will really pay more for a domain with an appraisal and an owner is not likely to lower their price because someone says it's worth less than they are asking. I'm not the best person to ask since I don't think I have any domains worth appraising, except at Estibot.com. :)

I got the exact same email from the exact same guy. Glad I didn't pay for the certification. Seemed a little sketchy. He kept pointing me back to the same site saying that domain experts wouldn't allow him make a purchase without a MANUAL appraisal.
