Is it better to wait for DDC to expire before registering again for DCC. Does this get you a better Coupon Code as is suggested in google searches?

well as far as I know
if you auto renew then you pay full price
as there is no chance to enter coupon there

    logic dictates.

mine expired march 22. I think they let you run the reg discounts for a week or so. I checked for fun few days ago and was still getting 8.XX$ .com renewals.

unless of course there are no ddc dicounts for renewals.

I know there are none for transfers.

so it could well be.. that the only purpose of having ddc is to get registration discounts.

in which case I may consider not renewing at all

and just pay the $5 to be on gd auctions.

maybe someone else can confirm about ddc.

what I know so far is: ddc gives you discounts on:

    registrations

    does not give discouns on:

    transfers.

    renewals... unknown.
    hmm

@alcy - I'm not talking about domain renewals/transfers. I'm talking about DDC renewal. I'm sure there are coupons for DDC. And by searching Google, the results suggest you can get a bigger discount if you are not renewing your DDC but buying a new DDC. My DDC expires on 1st April. if I let it expire, I can (probably) get a better coupon than if I renew. But until I renew I get charged $15 something for each auction domain renewal instead of the DDC $8.47 pricing. At that rate I break even, after winning only 17 auction domains (at full DDC pricing) less if I use a coupon. So it's a no-brainer, and relatively urgent.

PS: As you know. I'm never going to renew domains in my account or transfer domain into GoDaddy.

    yep I understood.
I was just having convo about advantages of having DDC. frankly, I am not sure.

as I said, I know it applies to reggin domains.. I also know it does not apply to transfers.

    not sure about renewals.

what do you mean by "auction domain renewal?"

here are your coupons.. shoudl be in the 30-40% range

    CJCRMN35
    epromo6

and yes... as you and I said before, you should let it expire if you want to use coupons

I'm sure you have noticed you pay for a renewal every time you buy an expiring domain :) DCC covers this renewal as illustrated above.

I'm sure you can find coupons for both before and after expiry of our DCC. They are not interchangeable. As far as I know and can tell.

I'll go check these coupons now.

@alcy - Both those coupons don't apply to DDC renewals. I have seen a promo code of 50% for new DDC registrations up until end of March only. And it will be expired in April, when my current DDC subscription expires on 4/1

    oh crap :)

thats what you mean auction renewal.. believe it or not.. I've yet to buy my first expired gd auction :)

ok.. so it seems its all clear now.
ddc gives you discount on renewal+reg
    not on transfer.

i am not sure but I Read somewhere that if you do not let ddc expire, then you cannot apply coupon to renewal.

    could be wrong

    well gl

they do apply cause someone else used them, however, it may be the case of what I just said. ie: yuo cannot apply coupons to renew ddc before it expires.

you will probabyl have to wait for it to expire :)

@alcy - The renewal of expiring auction domains is the only thing I can use DDC for. And as stated above it's a no-brainer by reducing the renewal costs (without DDC) by almost 50%, even at full DDC pricing.

    I absolutely agree with you

I guess there is no way around that one. maybe expired auctions is how gd attracts their biggest ddc clientele!

And you haven't renewed it yet? Here's the 50% discount coupon I found. Valid in March only. GD8123A
I tried it but it didn't work for me, I presume because it was not expired. it might work for you. Let me know.

Ah, I remember now. Last year I had to delete my entire DCC subscription product. So I could use a new puchase coupon for my DCC.

Option #1: Wait for over 1 month after club expires, since you get discounts for quite a while and no coupon would work. Once, your discounts no longer exist you might find a coupon for around $77 like I used too, but no guarantee.

Option #2: The GD club ends up saving me over $650 per year off reg. price. However, if your talking about like just 15 domains you purchased at auction the club doesn't make sense as you'd probably just save $105 if they were all .com's vs. the $120 a year price. I say anyone with over 20 domains at GD that need renewal or planning to hand-reg that many there should join the club.

Option #3: If you end up getting the club for less than $80 as stated in option one what you save on 15 .com's off regular price is worth it.

I just deleted my DDC Subscription with 2 days to go. GoDaddy gave me a cancellation confirmed notice. But it's still showing in My Renewals. I guess/hope this is just a timing issue on GoDaddy.

@Daniel Owens - Ah yes. You were the one who gave me the discount coupon for last year.

The way I count BEP is like this. Regular .COM Registration/Renewal (I don't remember the exact figure but it's just an illustration) Say $15.47, DDC .COM Registration/Renewal is $8.47. A saving of $7/domain. Cost of DDC Full Price is $120. So BEP is 120/(15.47-8.47=7) = 17 domains. A no brainer.

OK. You might say that $15+ is a false high price and you can register cheaper somewhere else. Which would increase the BEP. But the problem is that when you are buying expiring domain auctions, you are charged the $15+ if you don't have DCC and $8.47 if you do have DCC. That's it. Which reduces the BEP.. And that's with Full Price DCC. If there is a 50% coupon. the BEP is only 8.5 domains :)

Which is why it is a must to have DCC if you buy more than 8 domains/year on GoDaddy's expiring domain auctions.

@stub The best that'd do on the phone without me deleting club was 5% so that's not super helpful since you canceled your club anyways. I suspect it may take a couple weeks for your discounts to disappear after your recent deletion of the product then hopefully you can probably use the coupon at that point. Just, my two cents as I've been using godaddy as my primary register for almost 17 years ( I so miss the early days of GD when they even had renewal coupons, no club and all over the internet even .99 cent coupons back then that worked more than once. I was renewing at less than $8 often back then).

@stub Due to the required reg. fee you must pay GD on domains won at auction or closeout I guess is the main reason for your club interests.

That's what I'm hoping. When my cancellation is confirmed, and there is no existing/expired DCC in my account. I can use a new registration DCC coupon (which are generally 5-10% higher than a renewal coupon). That's what I did last year, IIRC.

Exactly. Without their Expiring Domain Auctions, I would never have a need to use GoDaddy.

Keep us posted as I would normally suggest to just wait until the club is expired rather than delete it since that means you lost however long you paid for before.

My DDC expired March 9 and I'm still getting the discount.

I'm going to guess the expiration period is 30 days before it drops off.

Ok. I'll keep an eye out for what transpires. But I do recollect deleting my DDC subscription last year and then being allowed to buy a new subscription with a slightly larger discount.

Just playing devils advocate here - if any time you purchase an expired domain you can find a 35% coupon $14.99 *65% = $9.74 then the DDC takes a LOT more domains to justify the upfront cost. My purchases there are rare so finding a coupon as needed is simple enough

RPPROMO5 gave a DDC price of $85.72 although the code was supposed to expire 21 March and of course that counted as new DCC

For the DDC, the best codes at present all appear to give the same discounted amount, (approximately 28.5%) lowing the price from 119.88 down to 85.72 for one year.

    cjcrmn35
    cjcrmn35mb
    etc..
Other codes will also work, but they either give the same exact discount, or many of them even less.
