Hi All-

Please post your experiences with hosting providers.

I have my current sites hosted @ bluehost & godaddy. Given the modest traffic (up to 3,000 page loads a day), they seem to work fine.

What if one of my sites grows, ending up getting (for the sake of argument) upwards of 50,000 page loads a day, will these hosts still hack it, or should I switch to a dedicated or virtual dedicated server?

I need linux with mySQL database, preferably with immaculate customer support!

If I need to switch (these guys don't have upgrades), any recommendations??

Thanks!
Josh

Hello. bluehost & godaddy are the biggest companies and they have little bit inert support and salles. It is very impotant point for me. In this case I'd prefer companies like www.wirenine.com. At least their webdesign looks very proffesional in contrast to bluehost & godaddy. I'm sure that their sevices must be better.
Very big - doesn't mean very quality ;)

Heres a few that are very reliable from experience:

hostgator.com
clook.net (you pay for what you get, and in this case you get a great service)

hostgator.com ~ Been running 5 different Arcades, 3 different banner exchanges, and a slew of other types of sites (20 more) under one shared server. Yes, I know I should get my own vp server.

*but* The point is that running all those different sites under one account and the hostgator account has not buckled one bit under the pressure. On top of that they are A++ on the tech support area.

If you go with them PM me for my refferal code for them. :)

I have been working for clients who have varied hosts i have worked with

hostgator -- they have good support i like them specially for $$
hostmonster-- one of the most beautiful hosts i have ever used!! buttt they are hostgators sister :p (seriosuly)

I am using 3 diff hosts
godaddy-- umm i dont wanna talk about my mistakes :(
mediatemple-- amazing is the word! but i tend to fall for beauty :p
steadfast-- good host but i am running out of bandwidth there :)

I went for a dedicated server @hostgator, the deal was buy 1 month, get 3 months free which I thought was pretty good. So far, absolutely no performance issues. Support is a bit sluggish at times.

Support is an important feature. If the support is not good then the host is also not good.
