Hi,
I have purchased 4 domains for 2 years each from godaddy three weeks ago. Now I am interested in transferring my domains to another registrar and also deep concern in refunding as well. I have called them and asked for the solution they said not refunding for the domains allowed and advice me not to cancel the domains from the system and wait for 60 days atleast as per the universal policy.
My question is as the payment for domain on godaddy is non-refundable for me so should I wait for 2 years and should utilize my payment then go for transfer my domains to my selected registrar or should I immediately switch to transfer after 60 day period.

Kindly Advice

you can only transfer after 60 days but you can internally transfer (gd to gd) before 60 days

you can ask for refund withing 4 or 5 days (if .com dont know about other extension ) (not sure) of purchasing domain

What your best advice in terms of using my payments as its almost 4 weeks now so cannot be refund. Should I wait for two years and then transfer to my desired registrar? Otherwise I will losing my payment.

So, I have lost the payment then means forget about it?... As, I have to pay again to the new registrar. Yes! I am really interested in transferring my domains but I am in deep concern with the payment also.

Or is it useful if I use the complete time frame i.e 2 years for each domain on godaddy which I paid for (as payment not refundable for me now) and after 2 years utilizing my payment then transfer to the desired registrar. Because this will safe my money... Whats your suggestion?

When you transfer a domain, the period that you have paid the domain for does not reduce. So if you paid for 2 years, transferring it to another registrar will not reduce this. Let's explain this with an example:

- you register abc.com for 2 years with Registrar GoDaddy on 1-Jan-2014 ie. the expiry date is 1-Jan-2016
- (after 60 days) on 10-April-2014 you transfer the domain to Registrar ZenRegistry.com
- abc.com expiry date will show as 1-Jan-2017 as Transfer includes 1 year Renewal.

So you can transfer the domain at anytime after 60 days from registration and still enjoy the years that you paid for.

This is a side question, as I'm just getting into domain flipping. But why would you want to transfer registrars?
