Had won a few domains at Pool that wound up at NameScout. They want $25 each to renew, wich is ridiculous. Because they are infos, I need authorization codes to transfer them out. But NameScout has not responded to any of my e-mails over the past few weeks.

Does anyone have a contact there? Or an e-mail to a real person? Thanks.

Same Problem

I had the same problem with NameScout.com

I was placed there because of Pool and while they don't suck as much as some of the crappy registrars they place you with, they do still suck.

They do not answer emails unless you send it several times. They don't understand their own products or how the registry works. They constantly fail to answer the question you actually ASKED when they do respond. They place you in a different freaking account every time Pool places you there. The list goes on for these guys.

I really don't like them, but they aren't as bad as say, AAAQ or someone like that because at least you can log in and manage your domain a little.

If I remember right they are somehow related to Pool...I don't remember how though so I might just have fog on the brain.

Good luck. :)

Namescout.com is not owned by Pool.com but they are one of Pool's registrar
partners.

No, actually Pool does own Namescout are both owned by the same parent company. see here:

http://www.pool.com/AboutUs_Momentous.aspx

Portfolio companies include DomainsatCost, Internic.ca, Namescout, Zip.ca, and others.

Monentus owned companies:
Zip.ca NEW!
Pool.com
Namescout.com
Internic.ca
Domainsatcost.ca
Hostmaster.ca
CVO.ca
Privacy.ca

BTW, they will eventually answer and send you a list of EPP codes. Just don't wait until the last minute. The only problem is, the names will probably still show in your control panel for months or years after you've transferred out.

Rofl!

That is so true, I still have several .info's that I have transferred to eNom that they haven't removed from the control panel. Not only that I get renewal notices for them constantly. I emailed them just yesterday asking them to quit asking me to renew domains they don't have anymore and the email to [email protected] bounced. I would think if they can't even maintain a stable email system for themselves they shouldn't expect that we would feel comfortable keeping domains with them (this is NOT the first bounced email I have received from them).

The only registrar that has bounced more emails is AAAQ. Now that is one pathetic registrar. I am not sure who their target customers are, but I am guessing it would be people with lots of extra cash to throw around and enjoy being abused by sub-standard service people.
