Hi all-

I'm testing some new software I made. It produces available domains that have search popularity.

You are welcome to post requests, but I won't PM the lists anymore, and I can't respond to all the requests. I'll pick some interesting keywords and use those.

No problem...really it's the machine doing all the work...I'm checking the lists every now and then....it's no trouble.

I've regged a few nice names for myself (2-word generics with over > 1,000 searches per month and some three worders), but basically just testing the tool.

For requests I need more specific stuff. Too generic words result in poor query effectiveness. The more specific the better

I see you've included google searches per month in your new data. Nice.

There is a debate at the moment (in the general discussion area) about Wordtracker scores, versus the new Google Keyword search tool figures. They give very different results, some say Google's numbers includes not just searches, but total impressions of their ads (including ads shown on individual websites).

It just struck me you might be uniquely placed to help us out here. What are your thoughts on the Google Keyword Tool search numbers? Relevance to total searches? etc.

Let me also explain about how I look at these lists: There are very few names out there that will have significant natural type-in traffic (though there are some), or that could be sold for significant amounts of money anytime soon (maybe in 5 years, sure but not soon).

The kind of names I'm interested in are category or product defining generic names with search popularity and high keyword efficiency. I'm lookint at development and SEO potential. The names I'm listing here are those that I think have great potential for SEO and development, and could become earners, and many still could have significant end user interest after being indexed&ranked highly, and as names even some domain reseller interest.

Personally I think the best strategy for a domainer who is not alread in the big boys league is to acquire and develop good generic names (for this purpose, three-worders are fine) into sites that rank highly for that one search term. That's when they will start making money and become desirable in the eyes of end users.

Another note: I'm finding a LOT (hundreds) of .org and .net versions of domains taken where the .com is still available. Often the .org/.net is a parked site, or a clumsily put together SEO (possibly black hat) site for the search term. Sometimes it is a bona fide website.

What I'm wondering is, why use the .org or the .net? Why not the .com, when it has the potential of getting the additional type-in traffic? Can someone explain this to me?

I don't know how common it is, but I have sometimes registered and developed .net or .org domains because the .com was taken. Months or years later I have occasionally noticed the .com is now available. However, I don't systematically check for that.

I highly doubt that no one would search for "cheap accomodation paris"...surely there are a exact searches every month.

The wordtracker search database is incomplete. Wordtracker has good positive predictive value (if you have high wordtracker, then it's probably good), but very poor negative predictive value (if you have zero wordtracker, it may be that wordtracker just doesn't know)

On the other hand, Google gives high AVG search value for some terms that seem obscure, and have ZERO searches the previous month.

Even Google's numbers are not the absolute truth. Maybe they do it on purpose - they don't want to give everything up..
