It would be nice to see what the final price was for domains we had a bid on.

I never received an outbid notice. So, I assume the domain was purchased at a BIN. Though, I wondered if I had won, and if my payment method failed, thus resulting in the "lost" status. But if that occurred, I assume I would have received an email saying I won the auction?

Below is the level of transparency GoDaddy currently provides for their auction participants.

This has been a conversation internally, but I don't feel it applies to a fixed cost platform. If you are losing domain auctions, you have to act quicker. You are not a bidder in the traditional sense. Only the buyer and the seller get to know the exact price. As buyers of last resort, you are given the gift of a flat, predictable, and often undervalued price.

I do agree we should have a notification to update on why the domain is gone. Will note that down for the next update in June.

It would be nice to have an "expedited" auction. Will see about this. Thanks for the input.

NameLiquidate is exactly what the domain industry has been needing. It's such a brilliant concept and it works! Thanks to the epik team for listening to the community and being a real innovator. (y)

I completely understand your point here.

Though, give it a little more thought.

My opinion landed on siding with transparency.

As we saw with Prrotect.com, a bug on the platform occured and I was (wrongfully) awarded the domain. The other bidders likely received a LOST status on their dashboard. With a notice saying their pre-bid has been exceeded by another bidder. But that wasn't the case. And if it wasn't for the transparency community of nP, other bidders/the seller might not have been aware or remedied.

My LOST status doesn't say I've been outbid, nor did I receive an outbid email. So I assume somebody bought the domain I was bidding on at BIN. But why the need to make your bidders assume?

Further, I think GoDaddy and other domain auction platforms have taught their customers to place a bid early on, so they can track the status (active and final) of auctions they participate in.

Lastly, if I'm going to be shut out of auction results for domains I bid on, I'll have to alter my bidding, to setting timers, to snipe. Rather than simply bidding early on to support healthy bidding on the platform.

Something I noticed while browsing on my mobile phone (so I assume is the same on all mobile devices). There is no indication as to whether you're signed into your account or not. I would have thought it would say at the top of the page (main list page and individual name pages) "signed in as David" or similar. Then there doesn't seem to be any way to sign in without going back to Epik.com. Maybe it's just my phone but I tried all the drop down menus and couldn't find a sign in button anywhere.

Ok, it's late here. But an idea came to mind.

Not that I want to tell you how to run the auctions. Simply a suggestion.

    Hold a silent Dutch auction.

    Meaning
If reserve, then tell bidders start price.

    But,
Don't give any notice, if somebody is outbid.

    This way,
If a tie, the winner = first bidder?
    Though, better (imo) would be
the tied bids (maybe 2 or more x $9 bids) have an opportunity to give one last high bid (silent bidding amongst themselves)

It also gives bidders time to think about the most they're willing to spend, not influenced by the amount others are willing to spend.

The auction stops at BIN or if high bid has been hit.

Add amount of bids as a sortable metric. To see what's hot.

Reward bidders by being transparent and informing those who bid (even if minimum bid) the final sales price.

If nL doesn't want to hold funds in advance for each bid. Then, with it being a silent Dutch auction, winning bidders can have their payment method charged in real time, if fails, then bid is void.

The only hitch that comes to mind with this method being shill proof would be non funded bidders adding prebids to force a final bid between bidding parties. Or non funding bidders being added for metric sorting perks. But beyond that (and being very tired atm) I question if adding a silent aspect to the Dutch auction could help deter shill bidding, and maybe in FOMO add value to help sellers achieve a higher rate of return, possibly by buyers bidding against themself.

Thanks for the feedback there -- we'll give that a review on that header. Good point.

As hinted elsewhere, something significant is on the way with an ecosystem-wide Single Sign On, connecting various services frictionlessly for authentication, checkout and payment.

sure they should be able to do so
    why not?

the idea is to sell the domain anyway
if they just want to double their money
    that's the fastest way
    for a try

Is it possible to bid on domains in the NL Bargain bin at all?

I continue to get this error:
    Domain 'example.com': unavailable

Where example is just an example, not part of the error.

And if it sells again, that's some added revenue for the platform. Win-win.

You shouldn't be able to bid there - you can just BIN. I only ever see a Buy Now button in that area - no Bid button. Seems very strange that you would be able to Bid...

The domain @NameDeck was buying was Pariah.org. It was at the reserve price. I bought it and have given @NameDeck a week to buy it if he likes. Otherwise, will keep it. We'll try to make it more obvious in the UX when a domain is at its reserve price.

Isn't it a given that any domain in the Bargain Bin is at its reserve price (no matter what that reserve is)? And that is why you can only BIN in the Bargain Bin (not bid). Or am I misunderstanding something?

Yes, every domain in the bargain section is at the reserve.

The bargain section should not have the bid button at all. Perhaps it may be better to have an "offer" button to try to negotiate if the reserve is too high. Just an idea to explore.

Yeah, they clarified you can't place bids on it, just hit the BIN at the reserve that was set during the liquidation listings.

They reached out right away when I ran into this 'issue'. Shows how passionate they are about the NL platform.

After feeling the burn of not pre bidding high enough, and losing out on NutritionalPlan.com, I went to raise my bid on another nameLiquidate domain I'm excited about.

    Logged into my epik account
    > my domains
    > account
    > nameliquidate
    > selected up (my bid)
    > received the below error

    upload_2020-6-1_18-49-27.png

While I really do want to win the domain, and I get posting this could create added competition, but I believe in fair competition, and I don't want to win/lose this way. Especially if it is at the expense of a domain registrant.

Am I the only one not allowed to pre bid on this domain? Seeing how I am the current high bidder?

Or, if this error is extended to all potential bidders, if gone unreported, would I have won the domain for $9 possibly because of the domain name invalid code?

    The error reminds me of

I just did my first purchase on NameLiquidate. Very smooth process except for the transfer fee surprise.

The domain delivery page did not have any information about my new purchase or the dashboard showing what stage of the domain transfer it is currently in for the domain. (really need more transparency here.)

I am scratching my head on where is my new found love.
Luckily, I have the invoice and make contact with the support staff.

Support staff told me it takes up to 1 week for the external transfer to happen and I just check that the domain is expiring very soon in a couple of days...

Don't worry - usually the transfer occurs pretty quickly (though it will depend on the seller). In any case - you are right that there needs to be much better transparency around the transfer fee, etc. A number of users have suggested before that this needs to be made clear. Sadly that hasn't occurred yet, but hopefully it will be in the works at some stage.

You can actually check your transfer status inside the transfers page https://registrar.epik.com/domain-transfer/status . The deliveries page only applies to your sales deliveries. Meaning, you won't find any info there on your purchases.

You don't have to contact support unless you have a failed transfer notice, then the seller will also be notified and prompted to check auth code validity. The sellers want to transfer quickly because they are waiting to get paid.

On the transfer fee, it is shown inside the bidding section here https://registrar.epik.com/auction/bids - In case of a buy-now listing, you should assume it will either be a renewal (for internal epik domains) or a transfer (for any domain, external, expired or not.) Will make a note on clarifying that pre-purchase.

IMO it should show the transfer or renewal fee next to the price. So if a domain is currently being offered at $100 the listing page would show as "$100 + $8.49" with a tool tip explaining the transfer or renewal fee.
