Hello, to namecheap users. I was just on live chat with customer service, and they are telling me an approved transfer out will take a full 5 days before it is released. I have a mid x,xxx transaction sitting in escrow right now, and I usually can complete a transfer in 1 day.

Is this true in your experience?

If that is the case, I'm moving the domains I have with namecheap out.

Namecheap as reseller no have an option of transfer accelerate, you will wait 5 days as minimum.... or full 7-8 days...
I'm also waiting...

That is ridiculous. Yep, I need to get all of my names away from namecheap

Unless things have changed in the last few years (I've been away a while), that is pretty standard at any registrar. In most cases 5 days is bare minimum. As already mentioned, NameCheap is a reseller of eNom. Therefore, they are under the restrictions of eNom itself.

They used to have a link to expedite the transfer process in their e-mails but removed it a couple of months ago.

Thankfully the company is understanding. Im dealing with a Fortune 200 corporation and want everything to run smoothly and expediently. This could have been an issue.

In my experience, Godaddy transfers out almost immediately after getting required approvals from registrant and receiving registrar. Ironically, as slow as Namecheap is with transfers out, it is possible to transfer in to Namecheap from Godaddy within a couple of hours or less, depending on how fast NC responds.

Same with Moniker. As stated above, all eNom platforms are this way now.

Transfers out take 5 days if you click on the link in the email right after is says

"Namecheap.com received notification on Jul 9 2015 9:34AM that a request to transfer a domain name to another registrar has been initiated. If you want to proceed with this transfer, you do not need to respond to this message. If you wish to cancel the transfer, please respond to this message before Jul 14 2015 9:34AM by using the following URL:"

They don't say in the email, but this link is for approvals as well as declining a transfer.

If you click the link in the email, then click to approve in the page the URL takes you to. Then transfers take exactly 5 days. If you don't go to the link and click approve then it takes 7 days.

I do them all the time and just finished on yesterday. Always takes 5 days if you go to the link and approve the transfer.

Yes, there are registrars that will let you transfer out faster, but Namecheap is a good registrar (one of the best) so the 5 day wait isn't bad at all. Especially considering they have great support and don't charge the $15 for renewals that places like GD charge.

If you need fast transfers and aren't worried about much else then GD is the way to go, especially with their reg codes.

Its BAD if you are sold domain and buyer waiting ..
Many registrars do it the same way though so the buyer should understand. Same day transfers are not the industry standard. Yes, GoDaddy and a couple others perhaps, but most are 5-7 days.

If the buyer doesn't understand this then they should look into it.

Also, if the seller of the domain knows the information they should know about this then they can put it in the listing at wherever they are selling it. If they are selling it to them directly then the seller should note that to the buyer.

20 minutes with no reply since second person asked me to wait a couple of minutes while they review the conversation. This is unacceptable
