Hey ya'll,

I own a site called MakeAQuiz.net to compete with Quiz Your Friend [dot] com (Awful Website) who seem to get millions and millions of hits. I made it a few years ago and seems to be racking up the hits now so I feel it's time to take another chunk from them by creating many of these websites on all of my different domains that I have collected over the years.

However, I would just like to hear opinions of my domains and ideas for different ones as I don't want to provide the same services on all of them because it would possibly be a bit counter productive on some of them.

I have already had talks with other quiz website owners for actually selling quizzes, so I may follow that one through. Also when I have told people of some quiz domaisn that I own, they have said that they have looked them up for a similar project.

Here are the domains:-
  • makeaquiz.net - My current site, allows people to create quizzes for their friends... kids mainly :hehe:
  • makeaquiz.biz
  • makeaquiz.us
  • makeaquiz.be
  • quizzer.eu
  • quizzer.info - Just picked this up from Snapnames.com on a drop, would be perfect for people TAKING quizzes that people have made
  • quizzer.be
  • buildaquiz.com - I picked this one up when I first made MakeAQuiz.net, I thought it would be good to shop around. Just recently I decided that it would be good to develop a .COM name with the same services as MakeAQuiz.net so I picked up the remaining extensions of this name.... (below)
  • buildaquiz.org
  • buildaquiz.co.uk
  • buildaquiz.info
  • buildaquiz.biz
  • buildapoll.com - Providing a different service for making polls much like the quiz service.
  • makeapoll.net - The same as above but 'Make' is a better keyword than 'Build' and it matches my MakeAQuiz.net domain hand-in-hand.
  • myquiz.biz - Took this one because thereis a competing service called MyQuiz.Net... but Quiz and Biz Rhyme so it's easy to remember.
  • createaquiz.net - Picked this up at the same time as MakeAQuiz.net aswell... another good keyword like 'Make' and 'Build' but covering all of my bases.
  • maq.mobi - Although Reluctant to invest, I thought that I may as Well if there is a chance to develop it rather than just to have it because everyone else was taking them. M.A.Q. is the acronym for 'MakeAQuiz' so a mobile version.
  • pubquiz.info - I'm AMAZED that I managed to pick this one up. ALready had some interest from parties wanting to sell quizzes (to pubs and bars etc.) as there seems to be quite a market for this kind of thing.
  • youtubequiz.com - With the next release of MakeAQuiz.net I shall be allowing users to add videos to their quizzes using Popular service YouTube. Hopefully no TM issues :guilty:
  • videoquiz.org - Just a name for Video Quizzing.... not amazing.
  • kju.net - This is the Pronounciation Key for the letter 'Q' which funnely enough stands for QUIZ, QUIZZES, QUIZZING, QUIZZER. Also Worth money alone, but a cool name for a Network of Quiz websites.

It would even appear that I have had a few cyber squatters on my domains so there must be some worth

I Hope that you can see as much potential for these domains as websites or as a QUIZ domain collection as I can.

Constructive Appraisals/Comments Welcome!

- Luke :)

I like the idea. I registered QuizFace.com awhile back, with basically the same intention. Wasn't sure how to approach development though and haven't done anything with it. Wasn't sure whether to just allow people to create their own quizzes, have a site that had a bunch of different quizzes they could take, or turn it into some kind of celebrity face quiz... like it has a picture of a celebrity's face which is completely covered up and then pieces are taken away slowly and you have to choose the right answer from multiple choices. it would score you on how fast you identified each... I suck at coding though, so...

Basically I like your idea, but I'm not sure about spreading it over so many domains... Might be better to just concentrate on building one main site and trying to optimize revenue from it. Or build a giant list of email addresses and then sell them to one of those "Consumer Survey" sites. :) I joined one of those once, they were asking me to review potential products and answer a million questions about them, but it was stuff like salad dressing and toilet bowl cleaner, so it wasn't interesting to me...

Cheers for the feedback.

I was hoping that spreading it across the different domains with a totally different design on each would be good for the overall number of hits... no?

Because If I have different ways of typing it 'Make A Quiz', 'Build A Quiz' and 'Create A Quiz' I am covering all of the different ways that people type this in. Because I am on the 1st page for 'Make A Quiz' on Google, I pretty much have it optimised so maybe it's time to expand. Is it a good idea to have them on totally separate domains, slightly tweaked content, but try to maximise hits for different search terms for each? Or Just concentrate on the one!?

I am in the process of redesigining MakeAQuiz.net with a different approach so that it is simpler but more modern... if you visit the site you can see that it needs a makeover! :bah:

Thanks

That is the best .biz name I've seen.

How about keeping the 'makeaquiz' sites as user-created quizzes that they email to their friends, but the 'buildaquiz' sites as webmaster-created quizzes that they can put on their sites?

(Edit) PS- I like the look of your site, not a big fan of informal fonts, but for your type of site and target audience I think it works.
It looks much better than the ad-heavy quizyourfriends dot com

Thanks for the Feedback Sid, I also particularly like MyQuiz.biz even if the .Info Is available! :hehe:

an anyone tell me if It is wise to create many differnet sites with a different design on each and tweaked content so that they are not visibly the same website, but offer the same facilities? :)
