Portland is one of the major American cities, so I regged the .name.
What do you guys think? Is it worth reg fee, or can I flip it over for something atleast?
I know the .name extension is bad, but still...Portland was among the few major cities that still have the .name extension unregged.

Any value at all?

Alot of people are saying .name's aren't worth much right now. But I believe when they start taking off like some of the other extensions, your domain will defiantely be worth something. Right now, I would have to say reg fee, but if/when the .name booms, it should be pretty valuable as any Major City/State/Country .anything - as long as it matches its extension - is valuable.

Goodluck to you and me (I have a bunch of .name's)

there were a few .names available of some other cities, though not major ones...Portland has a pretty huge population so I think I'll keep this .name
I'm sure it'll atleast recoup three years of renewal fees in 3 years...

I think in this case, because portland actually is a name, and a popular city, it's worth paying the regfee just to wait and see.

well, the Portland area has close to 2 million people...so that's gotta be worth something...I think i'll reg some other good city names too..

I have Brasil.name , hopefully worth more than reg fee.

well, Austia.name did sell for 850 bucks, and Brazil is much bigger, though most people do spell it with a 'z' than a 's' (even the Brazilian soccer, or rather, football team)

No value at this time.. the .name ext has been around for awhile now and I have not seen any significant sales. Plus there are so many great generic names, places and LLL's available , it is hard to put a value more than reg fee for your name. Good luck though!

well, I've searched...there are really no major US city .names available
There are some major city .names available, but none outside the US

I was doubting it might be reg fee, but I just wanted to know...
I think generics might not sell in .name extensions (attorneys.name sold for 80 bucks lol...the .com would've seen a xxx,xxx sale), but city names might, especially major ones

There are a ton of really great .name domain names available ... why might you ask? Well simple, because they aren't typically worth the cost to reg them.

They say a domain is worth only what someone will pay for it and in the case of .name, that tends to be zilch.

Those investing in the .name are doing so based on the speculation that one day they will be of some value but that doesn't seem to be the case according to most industry experts. IMHO (for what it's worth) I would say avoid the .name domain names.
