Really? Would you like to expand on that appraisal?

Cyberian

Several reasons
  • It's not natural; we say hire equipment 95% of the time
    • As a result it is the wrong cognitive algorithm. Equipment is a noun and hire is an adjective (its a verb).
    • So you have Noun, Adjective but it should be Ajective Noun
      • Red Car not Car Red
      • Strong man not man strong
      • Hire Equipment not equipment hire.
However, you can still hold it. After all, their is always an exception to every rule.

Equipment Hire is actual commonly used. Perhaps not in U.S. but in places like AU, NZ, UK and even here in South Africa.

@ValleyRock not sure what mathematical formula or advanced mathematical algorithm you used to work out that 95% of the time it's Rent Equipment? I'm no good at Math so I can't figure out these complex calculations. :)

Also, in natrual speak...

I would say "I am looking for an Equipment Hire company or an Equipment Rental company"

I would not say "I am looking for an Hire Equiment company or Rent Equipment company"

Another example would be -
"I'm looking for a Car Hire company" not "I am looking for a Hire Car company"

While the searches show a preference for equipment hire, real sales show that the verb-noun version has a higher probability of getting sold.

Search EngineCongnitive Model % of sales
Hire Equipment20VERB-NOUN, 2.8%
Equipment hire90NOUN-VERB, 1.3%

From my data, I can find more sales for verb-noun domains, than noun-verb domains.

Looked at the search engine and their is certainly a preference for the noun-verb version as opposed to verb-noun

So according to you....

Prefference = 95% ???

Prefference = The domain has NO value ???

Interesting perspective that...

I stand corrected at that "95%". As you have pointed out, different countries use english in their own way.

Before I continue , may I quote Benjamin Graham
“An investment operation is one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety
of principal and an adequate return.”

With that been said, I would like to add that probabilities are not absolute. To every rule their is an exception.

Oh really? There is only 10 millions results for "equipment hire" on Google.com lol.

What I dislike about this domain name is that it's far too broad. The equipment hire market is very specialised.

With that said, it's a pretty good pickup at reg fee :)

Thanks guys for some good constructive debate. As Deez007 said, here in Australia we would search Equipment Hire although like dcristo pointed out Equipment Hire is a broad term.
But for $16 I believe it was a good buy and will return something, don't know how little!.

But I still unclear on what I should ask for this domain? I suspect it will be different in other counties where the term is used.

Appreciate your help !

Thank you for putting the time and effort to give the OP your complete opinion.
This is how an appraisal thread should look.

Thanks to everyone else as well.

Aussiejob,

Welcome to NamePros.

I think before anyone can give a actual valuation of this domain you might have to see if there is any traffic. Either mount up a landing page or park it somewhere and see if gets any natural traffic.
Most likely the best use of this domain would be to develop it yourself since the term is so broad.

Peace,
Cy

This domains problem is more that its a net. Would be a very nice dot com. Branding can override order and region logic

When you contact companies like
Strategic Equipment Hire
Moe Equipment Hire
EHL - Equipment Hire Ltd

They would most likely tell you they are not interested in a dot net
