My first and only site, how do I promote it?

this is my first and only site.....whats the best, cheapest way for me to promote it? once I know I break even, I'll be able to pay someone to do SEO and stuff.. however currently, my goal is do some work myself and tips on promoting.
any tips, feedback,etc..?

Link exchanges are the most economical, and AdSense, applied selectively, can be an efficient way to generate traffic. Exchange links with related sites to start, and hopefully that will get you started. RF

First of all your css menus are really messed up. I don't know if they check in IE6 but they don't check in Mozilla. I would say go to www.digitalpoint.com and sign up for their co-op network. There are other things you can do like having many pages indexed and checking your ranks on google, yahoo, lycos, jeeves, etc. Talk with people on here and maybe you can swap ads.

You can start out by submitting it to major search engines, WEBCEO.COM has a great free tool for this. It lets you select which search engines you want to submit your website to, and it also has a tool that gives you scans your website and gives you tips for optimizing your web pages to get better places in the search engines. You can learn more about search engines at SEOCHAT.

Besides submitting to search engines, you can also advertise in forums, purchase text links/banner links at other websites, link exchanges, submit to directories such as DMOZ (dmoz.org), and register as an advertiser at websites like Google Adwords. Good luck! :tu:

Thanks guys. Means a lot.......at times it gets frustrating. I had submitted to the search engines while back, been submitting to forums, I guesss I"ll do more.. it's been already more than 8 months... so thats why. Thanks again.
